Yes, if you were there on 4-26, that was us at one of the tables in the wine room, you know, that loud table that seemed to be drinking just about everything in the place
Anyway, jiko's did us right. Our guests were able to enter the resort without problem, and the gate actually had a list of their names. (thanks to the hotel for making sure that happened.) But, after several beverages in the bar, we sat down and had some incredible wines. Unfortunately, one of my guests told us he owned a small vineyard in Essex (I did not even know grapes knew who to grom in Essex) but, that came after I had already ordered. Anyway we had a good Cab for about 75 a bottle, and it went over well. The white was equally as good and only about 40. I thought, for the prices, the bottles were a deal.
The one guest, who had lived in South Africa for several years in the past was thrilled that the wine was actually south african.
We had an appetizer plate, with a bunch of things, all of which I cannot recall, but they were cleaned. A couple of folks had the octopus, which likewise disappeared. Some had salad, some had soup. All seemed to be enjoyed. For dinner, the filet, pork, lamb fish and monk fish all went over well. Desert had ice cream, and other things. After dinner wines, drinks and brandy alexanders (but they made them with ice -- ugh) came and went, and, when we got up to leave, we were the last ones there. To all of those who were there, sorry if we were loud, but we sure had fun. Price turned out to be fairly reasonable as well, considering the number of bottles of wine and drinks ordered. With tip it was about $140 a head. Again, not a bad deal.
