Just made reservatons for the 10/15 Party for the Senses. Nearing the end of the spiel, the reservation agent said it had a dress code of "resort smart casual". I said, "what does that mean?" She had a list. No tube tops, halter tops, something, something, and no shorts.

I usually pack only shorts for trips to WDW and don't want to go if I can't pass muster in a pair of khaki shorts. For those who've been, how did you dress, how were the other guests dressed and did you see anyone turned away?

I did see a few people in shorts, but very few. I wore a pair of black dress jeans with a dressy top, another friend was in a summer dress and the guys all in dress pants with casual tops (no t shirts). None of us wore tennis shoes either (that was one of the something, something).

I've never heard of them turning anyone away (not anyone who has tried to go and posts to this board anyway).

It's a great evening!

The Party of the Senses is a Dress Up affair. Shorts are not permissible. If you're staying on property and plan on going, please make sure you bring at least one set of "Dressy" clothes. You'll feel more elegant and that's what the point of it is.

Also remember no Tshirts...that was in my spiel..

What about khaki slacks? I have a pair of straight leg sort of a dark khaki that I was going to take? They're definitely office casual. Oh it's a good thing we have a few days till I go so I can waffle back and forth over the packing list. We're also doing the Spirited Ball and already I have 3 skirts in the running for what will be worn. As time goes on I'd also like to hear what the other ladies are planning on wearing for the Spirited Ball. I want to dress up but not be so dressed up I'm out of place ya know? LOL

So I'm leaning towards my office khaki slacks for the POTS and then a calf length khaki skirt with a beautiful fall colored shirt the Spirited Ball. But that's today and tomorrow I'm probably be back to my even longer skirt option LOL

Ok now I need a 90 days weather forcast so I know if I need to pack warmer or not :-D

Diane - If they are office casual, they will be fine. For the Spirited Ball, I'll probably wear another pair of black dress jeans with sandals and a dressy top (which one depends on the weather).

By the way, the Spirited Ball is all sold out. By 9:00am (EST), there were only a few slots left. By afternoon, it was sold out.

when I attended the Party for the Senses last year, there were definitely people there in park attire, shorts, t-shirts, sneakers, and they were not turned away. The place is so busy and large, that unless you got up on the stage with the Cirque Du Soleil performers, I doubt anyone would notice what you were wearing to be offended by it...unless it was REALLY out there! :)

Hi Cyn!

Thanks for the advice on the clothes. I hadn't heard The Spirited Ball was sold out already, I've been looking at All Ears to see if she would list any more sell outs (there were 2 Wine Pairings i think she listed) but nothing on the Spirited Ball, has anyone heard the size of that event?

I can't wait for our trip. I just know we're going to have a great time with all the fun things going on (MNSSHP and F&W). I'll have to get one of those paint chips and cut it down and attach it to my purse for those 2 nights. :)

That is one area where the dress code is followed. I always wear a sundress, or dress pants with a cute top. Hubby does the usualy khaki pants and a polo shirt, or black pants and a tommy bahama shirt.

Everyone else is pretty much dressed the same way.

The entire party is quite elegant cocktail party type atmosphere.

Party of the Senses is one of the Food & Wine Events. I believe they are held every Saturday night through the festival. Cost is 95.00 per person and it's a feast for your eyes and stomach. La Nouba performs. There are little stations which you can get food and/or wine (plus beer and water). If you are adventurous where food is concerned, it's a great night.
