Okay, so. My friend is throwing my other friend a surprise 16th birthday party and its a hollywood theme, and they are going to have a "red carpet" and we are supposed to "dress for the occasion". so i was wondering, besides like evening gowns, what do people wear to the red carpet?\

Umm.. guys wear suits and girls wear dresses.
And it doesn't have to be an evening gown, it just usually is.
And it's always fancy, not like a sundress or anything casual.

Betsey Johnson is a little to trendy to wear to the red carpet...
You need something more classic, like the red Valentino gowns that a lot of people wear.
It doesn't have to be Valentino though, just go to a dress store in the mall and look for classic looking dresses.
Black, gold, blue and red are popular colours worn on the red carpet.

Well here are some red carpet gowns:

Try to find something remotely like these (if that is what you are going for), and they don't have to be designer. Try JCPenny, Macy's, DEB; if you are looking for a low-prize dress.

go to like local boutqie (spelling?) and they may have like some cute cheaper gowns that would be cute. or you could wear a more casual prom dress or you could also where you old prom dress.
