If we booked our stay at Nickelodeon with expedia rather than a package with Universal do we still get the early admission to Harry Potter?

no

a person has to book thru the UO resort vacations in order to get the package deal that includes the perks.

packages thru UO include the room, tickets and early entry perk.

3rd party vendors are not included for benefits.

Thanks to both of you! Just wanted to clarify that. Had thought of redeeming air miles for my tickets and booking Nick Suites on Expedia but thought I should double check first to see if you still get the partner benefits. Glad I did!
I want to stay onsite but my kids really want to try Nick Suites. They are the perfect age for it and we are going at a slow time in January so the FOTL isn't as important this trip. Ugg I would much rather be at RPH than Nick however.

Be prepared to pay an additional $30 plus tax per night for a resort fee at Nick. That is paid directly to the hotel.

I personally would not stay there, have not seen very good reviews and most the draw happens while you are at the parks. It is a good drive too

They do seem to have mixed reviews. Kids are really bugging to stay there and it would be a one time thing. Next time we go they will be pass the Nick stage.

We stayed one night in a kid suite. We missed the slime, were there only in the evening so the pools were shady making it very chilly. Our kids loved the pool. The room price was great...we boought it during a groupon sale. Maybe stay one day there and only stay at the resort, then move to universal and stay onsite. Then you get the best of both. The rooms are great, drinks are great, pool would be ok during a warm day but when it's shaded (its in the middle of the square hotel shape) it's cold!!! Remember January isn't the greatest time in florida for daytime swimming. The pool area is also very huge so can be hard to find the kids if they run off. There is a family hot tub and an adult hot tub..keep kids out of adult hot tub! This can be hard to do because the kids hot tub is cold! Hope that helps some!

there is an older trip report in the trip forum that talks about their family's stay at the Nick hotel.
they stayed there for the kids and did the darkside during the day.

the person gave details of their experience and it wasn't glorius.

We stayed once...and will not return.
Just our experience.

Thanks! We have been to Florida 5-6 times in January. My boys will always swim. We're Canadians. :rotfl2:

Thought about doing the one night stay but we are doing our US days before our cruise and then WDW days after. That would just be too many moves (1 night Nick, 2-3 nights RPR, 4 night Disney cruise, 5-6 nights at a Disney resort).

We have stayed at HRH hotel before and loved it. Wanted to try RPR this time. Guess we could just say no to the kids.

Hmm I'll keep reading trip reports and reviews. Don't have to book for a long time yet.
