Been trying to research an off-site US Partner Hotel for us to stay for 2 nites in October

ANY Comments, Suggestions etc....ON any of these or others !!! Which is closest to being able to walk around to places in the action and nearest to US

Are any of these really great locations to walk to US/IoA and Restaurants etc...

PLEASE REPLY ASAP

Four Points Sheraton
Best Western Gateway
Hyatt Place
Doubletree

I read that going north of Hyatt place; the area gets a little run done and not "tourist friendly" this true?

Many people from this forum have stayed at and recommend Hyatt Place. Doubletree is in the same area. They are fine for walking. Doubletree has a parking fee. Hyatt Place doesn't.

Hard to picture where these are.....

Also, I read that from Doubletree or Hyatt Place it is far from International Drive with all the restaurants and shops.
Not very many restaurants around these 2 locations or to walk to.

But read that the Four Points or Best Western is right out the door and can walk to lots of places....

Is this true??

Go to googlemaps.com and try the feature of pulling the little guy that is on top of the zoom bar to where you want to see. It gives you a good idea of how far you are walking. Doubletree and Hyatt Place are a ten minute walk into the parks, the other two hotels are much more.

You will see how close everything is. Two of those places, Sheraton and Best WEstern are walkable to International Drive--you either need to choose to be closer to the parks or to International Drive. I would just eat at Citywalk or the parks and stay closer there. There are a few restaurants that are on Major blvd/Caravan Ct. -- Cracker Barrel, a steak house, a breakfast place. Again, check it out on a map and you will see what is nearby.

I really need to hear feedback from those who have been there....I apprecia:dogdance:te it
I like your idea....

we are arriving on May 14th. I will have 2 teenagers with me who want to go to Harry Potter. we are planning on arriving in the morning and going to universal for the day before checking into a hotel later that evening.

where would you stay?

There IS NOT a Whole Lot of Threads and Posts for Universal Studios as for WDW; so I have been having a tough time deciding on an off-site hotel close to US/IoA that's a Partner Hotel....

I think I have my choices narrowed down to Hyatt Place or Doubletree near Entrance....

It really depends on your budget and what amenities you are looking for in a hotel. There is a Wide-Range of choices.

Also, do you have your own car....

Good Luck with Planning. That's why I originally posted this thread to get feedback; and as you can see.....I only got 2 or 3 replies....

If this was WDW I would have gotten alot more....

Have a Blast!:fish::flower:

You may also want to try posting on the Orlando Hotels board, since most people who frequent this board stay onsite.

We just can't justify the cost of one of the 3 on-site hotels......I think quite expensive

I'll check it out

This thread is kind of old but I would like to comment on some off site hotels.

The Best Western partner hotel looks like its very nice, however, the rooms are very underwhelming. We did have our dog with us, a 13 year old shih tzu who had just had surgery, so it may be that the pet friendly rooms aren't as nice... However, the rooms were very small. The bathroom was an okay size but very dated and "rackety" (toilet wasn't mounded correctly and faucets were kind of iffy). The beds were fairly comfortable if you like firm mattresses but the comforters were very nice. I would recommend bringing your own pillows has these were fairly used and flat. The floors were less than clean, but like I said we did have our dog with us so that makes sense. Overall for the money we paid I was expecting a little more from this hotel. It was very close to the parks but would not revisit unless the price was right.... Then again I can be a picky person and am used to staying on site.

The Hampton on Kirkland was very comfortable and clean. The rooms were very large compared to most. The beds were amazing and like sleeping in heaven. Free internet, microwave, and fridge. Also had a great morning breakfast downstairs for free. The service was very good and they answered any questions we had. This hotel was also very close to the entrance to the parks and had a starbucks near by ;)

the 3 onsite uo hotels are pet friendly.
they even get welcome presents when they stay there.

We are flying so no bringing my good pillows.....
But I usually do bring my own when we drive somewhere!

I am leaning towards the DoubleTree at Entrance to US

I like some of the comments from other posters and have checked it out extensively on-line and even google-earthed it to see "in-person" so to say, I guess

Never been to US so we are excited about the attractions

I have stayed at the Doubletree and its a nice clean hotel and would have stayed thier for our up coming trip in july but since we are on a extremly tight budget this year we are trying the Holiday Inn at the maingate to universal which is right across from The Doubletree but hoping for the best cause it has good reviews and bad but we will make the best of it :thumbsup2

It seemed pretty good also
That was one of my choices

But, decided on DBLTree

Thanks for the feedback !!!

I think you enjoy the Doubletree cause its a nice hotel and like I said before if we could have afforded it thats where we would have chosen to stay offsite but since our budget was so little this year we chose the Holiday Inn across from the Doubletree but atleast we will be in Orlando this year when we thought we were going to miss this year :thumbsup2

We live in Michigan and haven't been to Florida in 5 years.....and never to US.
Spending 8 nights at WDW at CBR then 2 nights at DBL Tree for US and Harry Potter !!!

I am pretty gosh darn excited and my girls can help plan this vacay cause they are a little older now....really thrilling !!:wizard:

I'm in the same boat. We arrive on Dec. 14th and have only 1 day (12/15) to spend at US before heading to WDW. My kids want to go to WWoHP and I don't feel like shelling out tons of money for 1 day.

Based on the many reviews on TripAdvisor, we chose The Doubletree as well. It seems close enough and I'm satisfied with the early entry bonus without a huge pricetag. :thumbsup2

Make sure you purchase the Getaway or Harry Potter package through Universal to get the early entrance to WW.
