Partial success with waitlist - a diliemma

We had wait listed for the week of Thanksgiving. We just received notice that we are confirmed for BWV for 3 nights, leaving us short for 2 nights - which are the nights before and on Thanksgiving. Would you punt now and book a regular resort or wait it out?

You could reserve a regular resort as a backup. Keep on the waitlist and when it comes through, cancel at the regular resort. Just an idea, but it seems people have had pretty good luck having their waitlists come through.

FYI - Once you book a regular resort, you cannot get those points back for anything other than a regular resort. Hence, the dilemma.

I think SamSam gave you good advice. Don't forget you can call peroidically too. Some people (me included) have had success calling MS directly, periodically, to check on the availability of what is needed even though you are currently on the waitlist - that is how I got 2 of my 4 nights over Thanksgiving week. Although we did receive a phone call for Thanksgiving day and of course took it. I'm happy to hear the waitlist is working for you and hope you will get the other nights you need soon!

That's true. I'm sure SamSam meant for you to reserve the nights you need with cash through CRO. IIRC, you can cancel CRO cash ressies up to 5 days ahead of arrival without losing your deposit.

If you want to use points, you do have a dilemma. really, only you can decide what to do. Remember that you cannot book and stay at a non-DVC resort within 60 days of the end of your use year. Keep your banking deadlines in mind as well.

Since you need two nights, consider waitlisting them together (both have to come through at same time) at the other DVC resorts. Moving wouldn't be fun, but I'd rather stay in a DVC resort than a hotel, so if two days come through at a DVC resort other than BWV, at least I'd be at a DVC resort instead of at a hotel. Keep the BWV waitlist day by day and on automatic.
