When we were there in mid-October 2009, we had on jackets in the morning and evening, and long sleeves the rest of the day! We didn't get on Splash Mountain until our last day because it just wasn't warm enough. By the end of our trip it finally got into the 80's.

DH went golfing in Naples, probably in 2006 or 2007 and it was HOT at the end of October, so now he is convinced that is the kind of weather it is in October. I said at least it wont be as hot as August. :goodvibes

Good morning everyone!

It may be Tuesday, but it sure feels like a Monday.

I need some Disney holiday thoughts in my head to get me through. :)

I agree and add in my sick kiddo .... Come on Disney!

2 weeks prior to that it was ugly "surface of the sun" hot. 2 weeks later (on Halloween) it was ugly "surface of the sun" hot again.

October is very hit or miss.

100 days!!!

I don't have anything on my WDW planning agenda today, aside from maybe trying to get a different BOG ADR. What is everyone else doing today?

Today I'm disinfecting my house (DS6 has/had the stomach bug going around) an I'm praying no one else gets sick! I don't do well when my kids are sick, I hate the helpless out of control feeling.

Today I'm going to research the restaurants a little more and I'm trying to get an early breakfast for MK. My one bucket list item is to get in the parks before the crowds an get pictures on an empty main street and hub.

I love that you haven't been on your first trip yet, but you are planning to go back. Most people at least step on property before they get sucked in. :goodvibes Tofubeast already answered your question, but I will add if you do room only with the AP discount, the other person can get their tickets at a discount from Undercover Tourist. That's what we did last year when we stayed offsite.

My goal is to get a bounce-back offer. If we get a good one, I'd have no reservations about booking another trip.

Definitely want to avoid surface of the sun. :thumbsup2 We may just stick to the Dec-Feb months.

We are thinking of driving to MK on our MVMCP day. We plan to resort hop the monorail resorts (well at least Poly And GF, maybe even WL) before we head to MK at 4. Do the resorts have printed out directions to the parks/resorts? Or should I add that to the things I should bring? Or is the signage good enough to follow?

Does anyone know how good the possibility is that there will be a chance in hours at WDW during the middle of December? I can only imagine how much I'll have to reschedule if that happens. Ha!

Getting into or out of the parks before/after everyone is always really great. We've done breakfast before the park opened in Feb and dinner after everyone left in Sept 2007 and both were so wonderful.

We usually follow the signs and are able to find what we're looking for relatively easily. Or you can ask someone at your resorts front desk for directions.

I told DH last night that I want to go to Disney in October to see the fall decorations, MNSSHP and F&W. He says it's still too hot in October, so I said I would go solo. And then I come on this morning and so many of my Dec friends are going next Oct!!! I wasn't really thinking about 2013, but I might need to really consider this.
Congrats to everyone who has their next trip booked before they go on this one!! :cool1:

We went in late Oct the past two years and I found the weather perfect.

I think the signage is very good- I've actually gotten lost using GPS ;) what I like about Disney signage is if you make a wrong turn in most cases if you stay within the property there is a sign to get you back.

A sneak peek at LeFou's Brew at Gaston's Tavern! Frozen apple juice with toasted marshmellow & passion fruit & mango foam on top.

& the signature sweet will be warm cinnamon rolls all day long!

It was something to get me excited this morning, lol. As I was doing my normal morning checking of lunch ADRs for Le Cellier & an earlier ADR for TH on our AK day, I saw this! It helped since the Disney site stopped working for me during my ADR search! :crazy2:

Levenhopper posted a link on the other thread from touring plans that showed the changes that were made last year. There were a lot. Mostly adding things, like second Fantasmic showings.

Yay!! I wondered what their drink would be. I hope the cinnamon rolls are as good as Main St Bakery. Yum. And I want a stein or goblet!!

I redid two days of my plan yesterday. I think that's enough for now. ;)

After I calmed down enough to look at the plan objectively I made two changes.

First, I moved MSEP and Wishes to the following Wed. And It really was the only solution that didn't involve huge crowds and major rearranging. Wed, Dec 12 is an off day and we're tentatively headed to GF and WL to see Christmas decorations. So it would be easy to jump over to MK. Of course, there's the chance that we'll be too tired by then. But if we opt to skip it, then so be it. Not the end of the world. And really, there's just not much else we can do since they cancelled the 5th.

The second change I made was to swap Day 2 (Epcot) for Day 3 (MK). (No parks on our arrival day.) I had MK planned for Day 3 because it was a non- party day and we could do MSEP. But since they cancelled it and are closing at 7, now there's no real difference between the 5th and a party day. For my in-laws first time I much prefer MK as first park. Future World just doesn't have the same Wow factor. The only sticking point was my Le Cellier reservation at 6pm. So we're going to start with the MK Welcome Show and AM EMH. Then follow our leisurely MK plan. Then at 5pm hop on the monorail to Epcot. Diner at Le Cellier then end with Illuminations. Much more Wow factor there.

This also has the added benefit of introducing the in-laws to a full day of MK "rides" before I try to get them on Soarin. Being able to move Soarin to our first Epcot day solves the problem of trying to do it after the (now extended) Segway tour later in the week.

I wouldn't have asked for any of these schedule changes, but overall I'm happier with my current plan. :)

Me too. I am hoping the BB convinces DH we need to go back. I will book it and then try to convince him.

Hah. I actually probably will because I think we are going to be renting DVC points again. For THAT trip, I want to get BLT, so I need to find me an owner who will book 11 months out. So that would be November. haha

Re: weather. I live in S FL, so I am used to the weather here. But have been to WDW twice in October and found it to be lovely weather. Humidity starts dying down, and the evenings are super pleasant.

Touring Plans has a recent blog post detailing the "expected" changes for Dec. Typically the changes from the Prelim to the Final calendar (released two weeks before the month starts) involve extending park hours and adding Fantasmics/extra MSEPs. Occasionally a private event closes a park early but those are rare and usually noted early.

The change they just announced - switching EMH is totally unheard of. No reason to think anything like this will happen again.

I really want a BB too. The Oct discounts have been getting harder to find and we'll want to be on the Boardwalk. But it has to be RO not FD.

Just realized - we're already more than 10% of the way towards having this thread closed and a third roll call thread needing to be started!! :cheer2: Keep it up!

EDIT: I thought it went by post count...I thought 2500 posts was the cut off. But I stand corrected, it goes by page count, with 250 pages being the cutoff. So...we're almost to 10%!
