Part-time job at Target?

For those who cross trained in their stores for greater versatility, how did you do that? Is that a standard Target practice or simply the luck of a willing manager?

The retail jobs I have worked, it was not so easy switching departments. Almost took an act of Congress at times.

I have considered applying at Target--but being able to one day learn multiple departments would be lovely.
