Coming to the World 8/23-09/02/06 and staying in a 2 bedroom at the VWL :yay: Can't wait. A cousin has decided to go & I had enough points left over to pay for 2 nights in a seperate studio and the other 10 nights we made with cash (recieved a 15%, I think discount off the rack price) Any way when she recieved her confirmation letter it gave us 2 reservation #'s. It broke the reservation into 2 parts. I believe it seperated the vacation into the points part and then the cash stay. Will she have to go down to the desk and get new keys made? They won't possible make her move to another room will they? has anyone else paid for part of their stay with cash?

thanks for the advice

We've always combined points and cash and have never had to change rooms or check in again. They make separate ressies, but they are all linked.

A few numbers to ponder.

A VWL studio in Aug, value season, is $295. IF the dvc member is staying in the room you qualify for the 25% discount, if it is available. That brings the room to $221.25 + 11.5% tax or $246.69 a night. So the 10 nights cost you $2,466.94.

WOW, you might look into renting or adding on points. You would need 13 points for each of the week nights and 29 for F&S, even if you booked 2 weekend nights, and 8 week day nights you would need 162 points. At the 'magical" rate of $10 a point that would save you $846.94. More if the DVC owner is NOT staying in the room because you will not get the 25% discount. Or look into an AP discount, that has been between $100-133 a night of the rack rate. That would more than cover the AP cost.

Good luck and have a great trip.

As long as the room types are the same, it will be one reservation when you check-in. They will give you keys for the entire stay. I agree with Bill, you should look at renting points or an AP rate.

Thanks every one, I'll look into the AP rate. I'm really not comfortable with renting points, never tried it so not sure I want to try it on this trip

We have always combined points & cash as well.

I would just make certain the the ressies are linked in MS computer & verify at check in. We have never had a problem.

Have fun!

You may want to do a points transfer rather than flat out renting. Once the points are in your account, they are yours, unlike a rented reservation.

A couple of thoughts. I'm assuming you got the cash rate through MS. The rules for that say the member themselves must be staying in the room on cash, not just on the trip. I doubt they truly enforce it but you need to know just in case. If cash through MS and the same roomtype they should link the room and you should not have to move units. For CRO plus points stay, no way to know if you'll be in the same room or not.
