Recap:
Me, DH, DD 8, DS 6. We stayed at Wilderness Lodge Villas from 12/19-12/22.

I will use my standard rating system:

10- everything perfect...food, service, atmosphere (very rare)
9- excellent, almost perfect
7-8- very good, overall great experience
5-6- mediocre, might not return
3-4- bad, not returning
1-2- should close this place down!!!

After a late night at EPCOT and still full bellies we didn't think we'd make it to Donalds breakfastosaurus. However, I got everyone up early anyway as I knew this was a short trip and I wanted to maximize our time. Animal Kingdom is a very special place to me and I liked the idea of getting there before opening.

12/21, breakfast at Donalds breakfastosaurus (special christmas addition)
We arrived at AK at 8:15am for our 8:30 PS. They efficiently had one turnstile available for people with PS's for the breakfast. You then signed in at a table they have set up by the main entrance. They give you a card with your name and ps time on it and have you wait in an area off to the right until your name is called. Then a CM walks you through the park (which doesn't open until 9am) to the restaurant in DinoLand. She ended up also being our waitress. When you arrive at the restaurant you have your picture taken and then are led to your seat. We sat in the "recreation room" area of the restaurant which reminded me of the decor at 50's Prime Time in MGM. We were brought a giant pitcher of coffee which is what we really needed. We sat and enjoyed this awhile before rushing off to the buffet. Now, I am NOT a big fan of buffets, but this was very good. Trying to recall the selection, I believe they had one "cold" station with cereal, fruit, and pastries and then a "hot" buffet with eggs, sausage patties, bacon, pancakes, cinamon french toast, quiche, apple crisp (yummy), hash browned potatoes and I'm sure more that I forgot. They also have a omelette station where you can order one fresh and they make it right in front of you. My only regret is that it took like 15 minutes...I had one with mushrooms, peppers, onion and tomato. It was hot and delicious.

Characters were good, but a little rushed. There was goofy, chip and dale, mickey and pluto, and of course Donald.

Overall rating: 7 1/2 I would go back here again, but would want to be more rested and hungry. The food really impressed me and I liked getting to AK early.

Spent the rest of the day at Animal Kingdom. Lines were short, but it was the coldest of the days in the trip (about 65 I think, but the wind made it feel 10 degrees cooler).

We rested back at the room as ususal. I wanted to go to Artist Point, but I don't think I would have enjoyed it. I really do get sick of eating. The kids wanted to go to downtown anyway, so we went to Wolfgang Puck cafe.

10/21, dinner Wolfgang Puck Cafe

We've been here before, and I knew I could find some lighter fare here. While we waited for our table DH ordered us a sushi roll at the bar. It was a special, the "Hannah roll" which is our daughters name., so we ordered it. It was excellent. Very fresh, not fishy at all, but buttery in texture. Inside was spicey tuna with miso glaze and outside had a trio selection of seared tuna (my favorite), white tuna, and salmon. The sushi alone I'd give a 9 1/2!!

For our meals...the kids ordered pizza, DD cheese, and DS pepperoni. I had the spring rolls, which I've had before. It is a HUGE portion so I shared with DH. It comes with chicken, veggie and shrimp rolls each with a different sauce (raspberry, sweet and sour and mustard I think) and mesclun greens in the middle. I could have stopped there but ordered the veggie pad thai. I thought it would be light, I it was a very large portion. It was good, but very very HOT (spicey). I LOVE spicey food, but this was so hot the food lost it's flavor. Too bad...I think a little less spice it would be great. DH had the iceberg salad and I think a burger...I'll correct that if I'm wrong.

Too full for dessert, but bought some treats for the kids at the overpriced candy store near the cafe.

Overall rating: 8. If I had stopped at the spring rolls it would have been a 9...

Will continue with our last day next time...

I'm having a great time reading your reviews. It seems that your going to a lot of the same places we go to. Although were always up for trying new things. Now if I could just get my DW to try the sushi. I keep telling her she doesn't know what she's missing. Oh well maybe in a few days.

...woke up this morning and asked DH what he had at Wolfgang Puck. He did NOT have the burger, but the paella special. He said it was pretty good but not as good as the one we eat in our favorite seafood place in Greenwich, Connecticut. Also he said he was pretty full as well after the appetizer...

Ohh-I want to try Wolfgang Puck's! Sounds yummy. This is one I have yet to try in all my trips to WDW.

Sorry, I've been meaning to respond...

I see you're going to Disney TOMORROW!!! Good for you!!!

Anyway, start your DW with something simple like a California Roll sans the roe. The crab meat is cooked, as you know. It's a good way to get used to the flavors of sushi before moving on to the raw stuff, which puts people off until they realize how un-fishy good quality sushi is! Also good alternative is a smoked salmon roll for the same reason...

California Grille also has excellent sushi among other delights. This is one of our favorite places to eat.
