Day minus 8
At 00:35 this morning we finally bit the bullet and booked a last minute trip to DLRP online direct through Disney. We did this mainly because the main travel companies were either fully booked or only had the high end packages available. We also booked our ferry crossing online with Sea France because it worked out at £70 cheaper than an equivalent round trip with the other major operator. The trip had been talked about for most of the year but finances, work commitments and other things had prevented us from going. It was the last real chance for us to go as a family until after our new baby arrives next year but as I’m sure most of you know once the Disney bug really bites you just have to find a way.

Day minus 4
Told DD that I was going on a business trip to France and that I was bringing her and DW with me. She showed some excitement as she likes going out with me on my little trips (I work with some Zoo’s etc here in the UK so a business trip can be quite good fun for her), but I’m sure she was wishing we could have a proper holiday.

Day minus 3
Gave in and told DD that the business trip was to DLRP. Now she started showing real excitement! As you can imagine. Once we had told her what the arrangements were she got really really excited!!!
All her guide books came out along with the travel brochures she collects, (she has a little trick whereby she reads a DLRP/ WDW brochure at bed time if she finds it difficult to get to sleep, so she keeps a stack of them by her bed).

Day Minus 1
So much for an early night !!!. We had planned to get to bed early as we were due to be up and out by 4:30 the next morning, but we had a major water leak in the house and water was cascading down through the ceiling and onto the fuse board. This in turn gave us a complete power failure and took a good few hours to put right. DD didn’t get to bed till 10:30 and DW and I were much later than that. DW and I then spent most of the night waiting for the various alarms to go off just in case the power went out again.

Day 1
After the traumas of the previous night we were all up at 4:00am surprisingly bright and breezy, if somewhat a little fuzzy in the head, and raring to go. I think DW was not looking forward to the next few hours as her pregnancy has made travelling a bit of nuisance. There are times when she feels car sick going to the local shops so an 8hr car trip plus a ferry crossing must have been a bit daunting.
The drive from Evesham to Dover took about 3 hours, we made it to the M25 roadwork’s before the worst of the morning rush hour so made good time. At the sea France check in at Dover we were offered an earlier crossing for an additional £10 which we accepted. Despite the rain and gales of the previous few days the crossing was very smooth and we arrived in Calais at 10:30am local time. After a much longer than planned shopping trip to Citie-de-europe, stocking up on booze and baby stuff, (it’s amazing how long you can spend looking at prams, cot’s and other baby bits) we finally got on the Motorway to Paris. At 4:03pm we finally pulled up in the reception car-park of the hotel Cheyenne.

Quite an eventful start to your holiday!!! Can't wait to read more!! :Pinkbounc

All her guide books came out along with the travel brochures she collects, (she has a little trick whereby she reads a DLRP/ WDW brochure at bed time if she finds it difficult to get to sleep, so she keeps a stack of them by her bed).

Sounds just like me!! :teeth:

i like to read my brochures when i'm feeling low! lol... and as for lying there hoping you don't sleep through the alarm.. yup, that's me too!

What a cliffhanger! I want to know what happens next - where did you go first!

Great stuff, keep it coming :)

You've posted in the right place Steve :)
Great start and can't wait for the next installment :goodvibes

Oh, I know the feeling of trying to keep a DLRP trip a secret - the first time we went we didn't tell the kids until the day before............I think 3 days before was very sensible, especially considering Judi's condition!!!!

Can't wait to hear the rest..........isn't Hotel Cheyenne great?

kaye :goodvibes

For your great comments. I'm trying to get a bit more done before I post the next update. Hope all of you who are going to DLRP soon have as much fun as we did.
