Parks without packs?

I know "Be Prepared" is the Boy Scout motto, but this former Girl Scout has never managed to tour the parks without at least bringing a decent-sized shoulder bag. I need to have room for my Band-aids, sunblock, Ziploc bags, spare camera batteries, and well, the kitchen sink, whether I end up using them or not. Lately, though, I've been thinking about the bag check lines, and although I've never really been in a long line, I've been thinking it might be kind of neat to be able to bypass them.

I know there are people who go to the parks without any kind of bag. How do you do it?

All I ever carry with me in the parks are my Cell phone and Wallet. They're stuffed into my pockets and I'm good. I bring my Visa and a few bucks, so I can buy what I want. If I want water I buy a bottle, throw it away when I'm done. I just don't see the need to be tied down with a lot of crap. *chuckles* Oh the one thing I don't forget is SunScreen, i always make sure that I put it on before I leave. If I have to carry something, I make sure it's a few of the wipes, those fit nicely into the pocket as well.

I bought a very small purse this year that will not weigh me down and only has one pocket for the bag check. It will hold my wallet, cell phone, inhaler :) comb and gum. That's all I need to keep me happy. Of course by the end of the day, I will also have lots of bags full of stuff I have to have but do not need! pirate:

I've read about people wearing those "cargo" pants and/or shorts and filling the pockets with the things they need. We eliminated the backpack about halfway through our last visit to WDW... just a pain in the neck to carry around! But on the rainy days it is hard to get away from a backpack... ponchos, umbrellas and such like that.

We carry fannypacks (or waist packs, whatever you want to call them). They still need to go through the inspection line, but at least it is smaller!

My idea of "bare necessities" for a normal day at WDW includes camera (extra media and batteries), video camera (hoping to go digital soon... they are so much smaller!), chapstick, sunscreen,DS's Epi-pen, a few Advil and bandaids, antibacterial wipes, comb, keys (car and/or hotel), park hoppers, cash, credit cards. DH and I share carrying these items in our packs. THe kids carry their autograph books, pens, pressed pennies, and a few small snacks in their packs. I would be hard pressed to reduce this amount of stuff. I feel like I am down to bare minimum now! Good luck!..................P
