Ok, I am NOT the bride! I am the groom's mom...who has been very helped by these boards for our family and couple wdw vacations. My son and daughter in law want to renew their vows at WDW. We are a military family, and they were married alone with a justice of the peace in March. They want to renew their vows this coming March. What options do they have at WDW? Anyone here who was married at SOG? What park options are there (if there are any!) Any help is so appreciated.
thanks

me and my husband are military and i am renewing my vows in Aug at SOG. I got married in Nov in Turkey becase of military reasons so this will be a real wedding for us and our family and friends. The people there are great so far. We have the suite booked for the week we are there and plan on having a little get together in there. You can get all of your park tickets there and they have shuttles right from there or you can walk to the poly. We decided to go with SOG due to the money but I know its going to be perfect. I have all the information they sent on email. So if you need anything please feel free to PM me. Congrats to your whole family.

Congrats I am a Military Bride too, from what I hear Shades of Green is beautiful & very affordable. Good luck with the plans!

SOG is a wonderful place to get married/have a renewal. You are not paying taxes and the prices are typical for military recreation 3% above cost...I think. We were among the first couples married there after the big renovation. You can pretty much have anything "Disney" you want. My mom surprised us with Mickey and Minnie. They work very closely with the Disney people if you want. Now, I don't think the Wedding Pavillion is an option. However, the gazebo out back is a beautiful setting. Unfortunately, the day of our wedding there was a monsoon, and it was moved inside. We worked closely with the SOG staff and a wedding coordinator in Kissimmee, Cee Rivas. Her web site is weddingperfecters...put the w's and dot coms where you expect. She was excellent. I can't say enough about SOG. We could have never had the wedding we had anywhere else.

I have been to SOG many times and although we haven't been to an event there I can say that seeing the set-up for one looked really good. The shuttle serviuce I found to be very military in its scheduling- it was always exactly when it was scheduled. The food was good on the buffets I have been to and the rooms are much larger than either the value or moderate resorts and seemed to be bigger than when I stayed in the contemporary (but that was in the early 1990s).

Thanks for the help. :hippie: I am hoping that the two of them decide that they are going to wed in WDW. I am trying, however, to pass on info. only when they ask me for some. Otherwise, I am trying to be the perfect Mother-in-Law!
