We were just there. Yes, for the most part, I think it’s ok. We ate outside a lot. One restaurant we ate at inside wasn’t crowded at all, the others were fairly busy but distanced. Waitstaff wore masks. ADRs tight, better luck with walk up. Food options weren’t great for the most part - lots of pre-ordering and favorites missing from menus. (Glad we grocery shopped.) Resort hopping frowned upon right now unless getting food. Quiet with many boats not running and such at resorts. Masks strictly required on transportation. Forgot to put mine on once or twice and bus driver called me out on it, so have to keep a mask in your pocket if using transportation.
The one time, in retrospect, that we probably should’ve thrown masks on (but didn’t, as we initially didn’t realize it was going to be so long) was in the inside queue for Mine Train when it temporarily broke down as we were nearing the front. Had about a 20 minute wait with a bunch of people packed in like sardines. We are all vaccinated so weren’t too, too worried, but with this variant going around we probably should’ve just put our masks on for safety. (Only a handful of people had theirs on.) There were a few people walking around with masks on everywhere. (And nobody seemed to care much.)
It’s still the Disney we all know and love, but with a little bit of a pall remaining over it in some respects (IMO) since you can’t completely get away from the fact that we’re still in a pandemic. Crowd levels, we thought, were pretty high. In the 20 years we’ve been going to WDW we’ve never had as long a wait for Splash Mountain before in the winding outside queue (I don’t believe we’ve ever stood in the outside queue before). After those two waits in the sun and heat, along with the long line for Peter Pan’s Flight (but two relatively quick trips onto Haunted Mansion) we weren’t interested in standing in any more lines, so DH and I left and went back to our room for a nap and a swim, while the young people in our party stayed and managed to do quite a few more rides despite the heat/humidity and moderately heavy lines. They didn’t seem to mind much at all. (Nice to be young!) Later, they had quite a lengthy trip around the MK resorts when they took the monorail to go to the gift shop at the CR, then took the monorail to the TTC, walked over to the Poly gift shop (as the monorail not stopping there), then I think had to take a boat back to the MK to get the bus back to our resort. Quite a trek. (We didn’t know until the other day, back at home, that resort hopping was frowned upon - it’s not like we saw that written anywhere while there and no one said anything to that effect to us. It’s one of the biggest things we’ve always enjoyed at WDW.)
