How do you physically prepare your body(before the trip) for all the walking in the parks? :jumping4:

I began walking about 2 miles a day when I made my ressies in November. First to get in better shape and secondly to get down below the 250 lb. Segway weight limit.

However, the walking isn't what I get pain from. It's the STANDING! I'm an AP holder at DL and I get what I like to call, "Disney Back" or "Disney Feet." The walking I can handle, it's the standing in line that kills me.

I suppose I need to work on my posture, too.

I am preggo and just started walking 2 miles day to get in shape for our trip in 11 weeks. I would have started sooner but I was so sick feeling, I couldn't do it. My daughter is also walking for the trip and she is fixing to be 8.

Treadmill. LOTS of treadmill time. And outside whenever I can. It really paid off on our last trip. I was able to keep up with my 3 yr old neice with no effort at all. And this is one quick kid!

We figured we (the adults) probably walked between 7 and 10 miles a day while we were there. I wish it was that much fun to walk that far at home.

We've found that walking isn't a big problem since it's usually at a slower pace. Our problem is blisters. I read a post on the Disboards about moleskin (you can buy it at Walmart neer the band-aids) and tried it on my last trip. WOW! Worked great. It comes in sheets so cut some up into various sizes before you go and pop them on the areas that get rubbed alot. Even works AFTER the blister starts. Also might be a good idea to take some tylenol with you in case of aches and pains.

Have fun!

I walk all the time anyway and I walk on breaks and at lunch at work. If you work where there is a sidewalk, go out and take a little walk each day (weather permitting) or at home before work or after work. It really helps with your feet being used to the walking before you get there... :flower1:
