Y'all are so nice with helping out and answering questions....I'd like to ask another.

I will have a scooter but no placard in my van, will the CMs allow us to park in preferred parking?

To save time and not take up 4 seats on the busy WDW busses we will most likely drive our party of 6 everywhere except to the MK. We'll take the bus there. But, if they make us park in the boonies, my scooter won't go on a tram and I'll have to drive it to the park.

Any info is appreciate. Thank you again. :)

There is more information in the disABILITIES FAQs thread, but here's the short answer.
Let the parking lot CMs know that you have a scooter, but don't have a handicapped parking permit. They will direct you where to park in a place where you will be close (it's not really safe to have people driving scooters from the boonies, so they won't make you park there).
They may direct you to the handicapped/medical parking. In general, if you are sent to that lot, there are some spots with signs/markings or blue paint that signify that they are designated handicapped parking spots. Without having a handicapped parking permit, you want to avoid those spots because you could get a ticket. There are other spots in that lot which have no markings; you can park in those.

Another possibility would be to have the driver drop you off and then go back to the regular lot and park. All of the parks have a drop off point. Just tell the CMs that's what you want to do and they will direct you to the correct spot.

In Ohio you can get a mobility placard by having your doctor sign a form that is downloadable from the state site.

It isn't much trouble at all and lasts for 5 years here.

you can in many states.
Depending on the state and how they issue the handicapped permits, you may find it on the Department of Transportation, Department of Safety or Department of Motor Vehicles website. That page should also include information about what the requirements are for the permit.
Permits for people with temporary disabilities are usually only given for 6 month time periods (some states may be 12); longer for permanent disabilities.

You can also call your doctor's office. Many keep a copy on file so they have it when patients request one.

The person using the scooter can bring their disabled plaque from home and use that in your van. If anyone in your party has disable placards then those could be used to park in the blue handicapped spots. I recommend getting a temporary one for the person using the scooter and they are not that hard to get if they have a doctor sign the paperwork.

Thank you again for all your help gang!

I will most likely have my next doctor appointment in January and will inquire at that time. I also hope she has some news as to how I can improve. It's getting to where an hour and half to get groceries is taxing on my feet. :sad2:

Keep smiling.......
