How far is handicapped parking from the entrances of the parks? How much is the cost to park? Is it a daily fee or an ALL week fee? My mom's in a wheelchair and I'm not sure if we should drive daily or try the buses.

We're going down Thursday! Any info. will be greatly appreciated!

If you are staying at a Disney Resort parking is free. When you check in tell them you are driving and they will give you a parking pass to put on the dashboard.

If you are not, the fee is $9.00 per day and you are allowed to leave and come back or go to another park the same day at no charge as long as you keep your receipt.

The medical (disabled) parking areas are patrolled by the Orange County Sheriff's Office. They like giving out $250 tickets, so be sure to have a disbled plate or tag.

Parking at the Disney hotels is free. The deluxe hotels have valet parking available at $7.00 per day with that fee waived for people with disabled tags. Note that the valet's are "tip positions" and they don't get any part of the fee.

i know you posted guidelines before, but i'd appreciate a refresher....how much do you tip if they're just taking the car? how much more if they are helping with the ecv? at drop off and at pick up? thx

The handicapped parking at Epcot is closer than if you rode the buses.
At AK, the distance is about the same whether you ride the bus or use the handicapped parking, you are just going in a different direction.
At MGM, the bus stops are right in front of the handicapped parking, so depending on where in the lot you park, you may be walking about the same or about 15 "rows" of cars farther if you use the parking lot (not a great distance).

For MK, you want to take the bus. If you drive, the handicapped parking is close to the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC). but a farther walk than if you parked in the regular lot and used the parking lot tram. Once you get to the TTC, you need to walk farther to get to the boat that takes you across the water to MK or walk up a very steep ramp to get to the monorail to go to the MK (you are basically climbing up to the station which is at 2nd floor level). At MK, you have to come down a steep ramp. If you ride the bus, the bus stops are about the same distance as walking from either the boat dock or the monorails station (so you avoid the intermediate step of going to the TTC).

I don't know about tipping (my DH handles that part when we valet park - my job is wheelchair wrangler).

Normally if the weather is decent I will tip $1.00 both dropping off and picking up. If the weather is miserable (raining or very hot and humid) I will tip $2.00 each way. These are if I do not ask for assistance with my ECV (such as just going to a restaurant).

If I do need assistance with the ECV (and the valet will know by my either popping the trunk on driving up, or wheeling up to the car) and the valet does the removal/assembly or disassembly/loading it will be a $5.00 tip. However if I do not get an offer of assistance from the valet and do the work myself not only will there be no tip but I will also discuss the matter with a supervisor.
