Just wanted to know what's the current parking policy while visiting other resorts. We wanted to look at some of the resort's holiday decor, visit the gift shop & look for specialty snacks. Is this difficult to do at the monorail resorts? Is there a time limit?
Thanks for the response.

I just got back today. We had a free day on Monday of this past week and decided to visit several resorts: Grand Destino Tower, POFQ, Polynesian, Contemporary. We basically said that we were coming to look around. They scanned our bands to make sure we were resort guests (I think) and let us go through.

The let non-resort guests in as well. We are local and just need to show a photo ID.

If we have a dinner reservation at the contemporary, how early can we park at the resort? We’d like to do a monorail tour of the Christmas decor prior to our dinner. Thanks!

You cannot park at the Contemporary to leave the grounds unless you pay valet. Parking is only to dine on site. CR is strict about this.

Since you are a resort guest, you can park for free at the MK parking lot. Then start your monorail hop at the TTC and get off at the Polynesian first. Then hop to the GF. Finally head to the CR and your dinner.

We had a dinner reservation at the Grand Floridian a few weeks ago and did exactly what you're proposing - parked a few hours early and did a quick monorail tour of the Contemporary and Polynesian. The guard just told us where to self-park and there were plenty of spots; we weren't given any time limit. It wasn't a very busy time of year, though. Disney's policy is that people can park at the resorts to visit and look around, but I've heard there are some very busy times when parking is restricted at certain resorts. This is especially true of the Contemporary - we always valet there. We usually visit in May and October and have never been turned away or given a time limit.

One word of caution - the monorail can be slow and is prone to delays. Give yourself enough time to make your reservation.
