I was just on the restaurant board responding to a Q about driving from one resort to another for dinner. That reminded me of what seems to be the new parking policy at all the resorts--a 3 hour permit only. But suppose I wanted to swim at Stormalong Bay all day. Can I get the permit for a longer time w/o writing to Michael Eisner personally?? I should say I notice a new "awareness" among the security staff when we went to the Poly for a swim in May- the guard seemed totally unaware that DVC had pool privliges at other resorts. When we ate at the Concourse Steakhouse later that same week, the security person actually seemed to be counting the people in the car to be sure they equalled the number on the PS reservation!!Has this been any sort of problem for anyone else?? And if 3 hours is truly the limit, what do they do with your car if you're late??

As of July 16, there is a fee to valet park at all WDW Resorts. DVC members are exempt from this fee only at VWL and BWV. As long as you have paid the fee ($6.00 per day) I don't think there is a time limit on how long you can stay parked there. At least I have not seen mention of the time limit in the press releases that I have reviewed.

Security has been more aware for several years. It is not easy driving around the WDW resort any longer.

I was staying at BWV on the 4th of July. We decided to check out Downtown Disney that night. Later that night when we returned, there was a security guy (there might have been two) in the street outside checking cars and of course the guard at the booth. All did a close check of credentials. It felt good to flash my member card and room key saying I belonged. I guess a lot of people were trying to get a good parking spot for the EPCOT fireworks.

You know, while it is sort of a pain to have security be more vigilant, it's also a benefit. I know it's Disney, and I know that we all think nothing bad ever happens there, but unfortunately, if it's a public place, bad stuff will happen. I have noticed on my last couple of trips that secuirty is more visible overall, which while it makes me sad, is also good.
