I will have a DVC parking pass to use while staying off site, a friend is staying at one of the DVC resorts and was issued 3 parking passes. Can I use this pass to park at the Contemporary Resort for Chef Mickey's, then just take the monorail to the MK? I don't want to have my vehicle towed. I was hoping this would be a big timesaver, plus save me on daily parking fees. Thanks for any input.

If you're thinking about leaving your car at the Contemporary all day ... well, last I heard Disney frowns on that big time. Parking at one of the Monorail resorts to go to the MK is considered a big no-no.

You can park at the Contemporary if you're going to eat at Chef Mickey's or one of the other restaurants for a limited time (I'm thinking 3 hours, but it may be 2) while you eat. After that, you're expected to park at the TTC or the lot of whichever park you're going to.

If you're going to go to MK for a quick visit either before or after eating, say to pick up a souvenir or something and be in and out in about half an hour, I don't think anyone's going to notice.

With the DVC parking pass, that should give you free parking at the TTC or any of the parks. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. You would probably be better off parking at the TTC, take the monorail to Chef Mickey's, and then to the MK.

The DVC pass doesn't do much for you at the Contemporary. If you have dining reservations at the CR, you'll get a pass that allows you to park for a limited amount of time ( 3 hours I think ). If you plan to be at the MK longer than that, you should drive over to the TTC ( less than 5 minutes away ) and park there. Your DVC pass will entitle you to free parking at the TTC. You can catch the monorail from the TTC as well.

have a great trip!

Thanks for the info! The TTC sounds like the way to go for me. What about getting into Epcot? Would parking at the Boardwalk be an easy way to get in a see illuminations and get out. Thanks again for any info.

That might work. Keep in mind that if your DVC parking pass isn't for the Boardwalk Villas, and you're not dining at one of the Boardwalk restaurants, they may still turn you away if parking is tight that night. Many people try to park at the BW to access Epcot, so sometimes parking spaces are pretty scarce. As before, your DVC pass will allow you free parking in the Epcot parking lot.

For parking at the Boardwalk to get into Epcot see above, parking at CR to get into MK.

There are signs outside the monorail and epcot resorts that says they do not provide parking for theme parks. Do you realize how aggravating it is to be staying at a resort and not being able to find a self parking place because people parked there who shouldn't be?

I don't understand what you are saying about the DVC parking passes. Is your friend already there?
The parking passes are issued during the check in process (just like the other resorts). They have a date on them that specifies the beginning date (check in) and the ending date (check out). So, if your friend hasn't checked in yet, he doesn't have any parking passes.
You don't need a parking pass to park at the resorts (like Contemporary or Boardwalk) if you are visiting the resort. But, as was already noted, because too many people said they were visiting the resorts to be able to park there and go to the parks, you could be turned away or given a 3 hour parking permit.

Am I the ONLY one who thinks the OP is a troll

FYI! PARK AT THE PARKS, not at the resorts.... That should solve your problems.

I should have said, when my friend checks in to his DVC. He told me he has always received 3 parking passes and only needs two. I just happen to be there the say time he is staying there. He's staying for 3 weeks, I'm only off site for 10 days. We both will be visiting, starting the first week of December. Thanks for everyone's input. :goodvibes

Your question did not aggrevate me. If you are at Epcot and your car is at BW when I'm going round and round looking for a spot at BW then I'll be aggrevated. ;)

How many he gets might depend on what size villa he is staying in.
We always always stay in a 2 bedroom. They ask how many vehicles we have and give that number of parking permits. They don't just give a certain number of parking passes. We have been DVC members since 1992 and have never been "always receiving 3". They always ask how many vehicles we have and give us the number of parking permits for the vehicles we have.
If he is staying in a studio or 1 bedroom, they would not be likely to issue 3 parking permits (and probably would be a bit suspicious) since a studio or 1 bedroom only sleeps 4.

ITA with Sue, and I have been a member as long as she has. They will, however issue as many as you ask for. 4 would not be unusual in a one bedroom or studio as there could be 4 cars for 4 adults.

I do take issue, however, with off site guests taking advantage of onsite guest perks. But, that is another topic for another day.
