Parking pass question

Hello all,

Staying on Disney property and want to be at AK for opening on check-in day. Can I obtain my parking pass from the guard shack but NOT check-in at the front desk? I know that the guard normally checks your ID then calls up to the resort to tell them that the "such and such family has arrived," assuming you will be checking in/dropping off bags. We don't want to waste time and will be done touring at AK before 3pm., so can we just pick up the pass, go to the park and check in later?

We normally skip the parks on our first day so we've never done this...

I'm pretty sure you have to check in to get the parking pass. It comes with your check-in packet.

I've stayed on property 4 times and haven't ever waited more than 10 minutes to check in. It really shouldn't be too much of an inconvenience to you.

i go to disney at least 6 times a year and each time it is different. My past trip the guard gave me my pass and when I was checking in they asked if I already had one from the guard. The time before that I got it at check in and the cm didnt ask if i already had one and just printed it. I stayed yc, bwi, ssr

Really? OK...I might be wrong then. I stayed at Pop earlier this month and they gave it to us with our check-in packet. I am not sure why there isn't a standard procedure...

You can check in anytime after 6 AM so that should be enough time before rope drop. If AK is having AM EMH you would need your KTTW card to enter the park.

Last year when we asked the guard for the parking pass he said to get it when we check in.

Perhaps the routine changes from one resort to another? We usually stay at the mods, and have gotten our parking passes with our packet at check in.

We received our parking pass a week ago (Kidani) at the booth. However, every time I entered a park via car, I showed my room key...didn't know they could just look at the pass.

I have had a time or two that the pass wasn't available at the booth. Not sure why. I have never had an issue with checking in. You can always use the short term parking or just leave the keys with the valet (not valet park) for a short while.

Thanks all. It will be YC. It won't be an EMH morning at AK. If we can check-in as early as 6am. (which really means dropping off our bags with Bell Services), then I guess we will stop by YC before heading to the park. Park opens at 9. Certainly doable. Just wanted to go straight to the park (staying offsite the night before).
