I have a 7.05PM reservation at Boma, after a day at AK Park. Would I be able to leave my car in the AK car park, and get the bus to and from AKL? Does the car park at Animal Kingdom have an official closing time? Don't want to get back to my car there, only to find that I'm unable to exit the car park. Many thanks for any advice you can give.

You would be able to leave it and use the bus service but depending on what time the park closes the tram/bus service might have ended, so it could be along walk to your car from AKL.
Personally I would take my car with me to the AKL, its only a few mins drive and large free car park, then no worries over any times, after your meal you could go look around the resort without having to rush.

Thanks for the advice. Only thing is, I thought for dining at a resort, you were just given a 2 hour parking permit. Not sure how I could make this work for me. AK closes at 5 on the day I'm there, so I'd be at AKL by about 5.30, I'm guessing. My dinner reservation isn't until 7.05, which would mean my 2 hour parking window is almost expired before I've even sat down to eat.

If you are given a permit it would be for 3 hours.
We visited many resorts at Xmas to see the Xmas decorations when the parks were at capacity, busiest time of year, not given one permit anywhere, included AKL, GF, Poly, Beach club and many more. just waved thru and wished a merry Xmas by all the security guards, all you have to do is show your photo ID. With a Meal res you would have no problems

I wouldn't worry about it too much, they check your pass or ask you if you have a reservation on the way in, but just open the gate as you exit. You could explain your time frame as you enter the car park if you are anxious about this.

I think you would be very unwise to rely on being able to get back to your car three hours after the park has closed. AKL is close to Animal Kingdom but there is no way of walking between the two and I doubt the buses would be running that long after the park closing.

I would just explain to the security guard on the gate that you have a 7:05 reservation and I'm sure they will allow you in without a permit. Alternatively you could valet park and wouldn't have to worry at all.

Be honest with the security guard and see what he says. The "official" rule is 3 hours maximum, but it seems like this is not universally enforced. If it's a particularly busy time of the year it is, in my opinion, particularly unfair on the paying guests of the resort to use up a space.

Thanks for all the advice, folks. People on here are always so helpful with their comments.

We had a reservation at The Rain Forest about 1/2 hour after AK closed. We too were worried about the car as we had been in the park all day. We were told that the car park closes about 3 hours after the park (ok for us), but that we would have to walk to our car as tram service would have stopped. I'm guessing AK car park would be closed by the time you would be coming out from eating.
