Apologies if this in the wrong forum, should it be transportation ?

We arrive from NY at 9.30am next Wednesday (woooohoooo) collect our rental car and plan to go straight to MK. If I have done the online check-in, will I get free parking for that day (will go back to the hotel later in the day)

Thanks

Yes. Just scan your band at the parking booths. Sometimes they don't even scan it, they just waive you on.

You'll scan your band and they'll let you in.

If they don't scan it the CM is just taking your word for it. Not usually the case, but can happen. That usually happens if you have your MB ready for them to scan already.

Of course. Dumbo.
I don’t agree with Dumbo! ;) It’s that people who have MBs for the first time don’t often realize the significance of wearing the MBs.

For a real cool Parking toll booth experience, when a CM ID is shown, the car is often waved through without the need for stopping.

Why would showing a MagicBand allow them to waive you through? Lots and lots of non-onsite guests have MBs, lots bring them back trip after trip, not staying onsite. I can't imagine a CM skipping the scan is following proper policy.

It took years before they would scan our MB only for our AP, they used to always ask for our AP card and ID to prove it was us, not someone just using our MB. Funny is we get through faster showing our card & ID (they waive us then) than our MB (which we have to stop and be scanned).

It's not proper policy but they do it from time to time.

I don't stay on site but have free parking with AP. I don't have the slider on my band indicating AP and occasionally when I pull up and reach my band out for them to scan, they just wave me through. I could be just an off site single day ticket holder for all they know, but I guess when I have the band out and ready sometimes they just assume I'm on site or AP holder.

The norm is they scan the band though. But I prefer, and usually, just use my ID and AP card as it's quicker

Sometimes they just ask where we're staying and let us through. I'd say that's about half the time when there's a parking attendant present. There have been several times when we've arrived so early in the morning at TTC (for PPO ADRs or Early Morning Magic) that there was no one working the booths.

Our band was scanned only during odd hours when we were returning to the park after a break (or hopping). Never once did they scan it when we headed in for RD.

Do you need a card for your vehicle if parking at the resort where you're staying? Or does the "MagicBand Wave" take care of that?

Offshoot of this topic (I figured maybe this is better than creating a whole new thread), the person with the AP for free parking doesn't have to be driving, do they?
