Parking in Local Neighborhoods

I'm a passholder and thinking of parking in the neighborhoods off West and Eleanor (near Anaheim Convention Center) and walking towards Grand California and getting into the park there. Anyone ever done this before. Looks like it's only about a 1/2 mile walk.

I usually only go for 4-5 hours from opening until about 1pm with my daughter and don't want to pay the $18 parking fee.

You are looking at a permit only parking area, so be prepared to pay the city for the parking ticket.

Maybe look into using public transit, plenty of options with the OCTA and also the LA Metro Route 460 buses.

It's not only illegal but unethical. You not only risk getting ticketed but towed and it's really unfair to the residents living there. I see people constantly trying to get out of paying for parking and it's really sad. Imagine if it was YOUR neighborhood how you would feel. Respect the rules or carpool with others to split the cost or simply don't go.

It's unfair to those who do pay for parking regardless how little or much time spent and to those that live there.

Didn't realize it was a permit only area. Thanks for the tips about OCTA. I am looking into it.

Okay also, calm down, it was just a question. No need to get worked up. I just have a really giddy two year old that loves Disney princesses lately and so we visit sometimes twice a week. I'm a SAHM and we have one income so I'm just trying to see if there are alternative parking situations.

Also, I live right across the street from CSULB and people do it all the time in our neighborhood. It's not worth getting worked up over. That's why we have our own garage and driveway.

However, as stated, I'm looking into other options.

I would take the bus, or see if you can take uber or lyft.

Park in DTD and on your way out (if you can leave within 4 hours of the time that you park), get a $6 snack from AMC to get your parking ticket validated for 2 more hours of free parking. Then you'll have 4 hours of "free" parking and a snack.

Hope you're able to try and find something that will work out! Parking can be a pain in the neck.

A tip: I also wouldn't try to park at McDonald's across the street. They have signs saying that parking is for customers only and violators will be towed at owners expense. I've seen tow trucks in that parking lot (when we stay at Camelot right next door), I assume patrolling for violators.

We sometimes like to go out on the walkway right outside the room and peoplewatch when taking a break. Some people still park there and are so blatant about it too. They'll unpack the whole family, strollers, Mickey balloons, back packs and then walk right on past McDonald's and down the sidewalk to Disneyland. They can't be surprised or claim ignorance when they come back and their cars are gone...

Unless it is posted it is not illegal or unethical. It is a public street owned by the public. The people who live nearby have no more of a right to park there than anyone else.

It's not at all illegal, actually.

I get this crap all the time at my job. The residents call up and claim they own the parking spot in front of their house. I always have to correct them and tell them they have no right to that spot in front of their house.

Correct, on a regular public street no one "owns" the parking in front of their house.

But a city can require permits to park in specific areas of a city. And to get the permit you must prove you live there.

So, parking where permits are required, without a permit, is illegal.

It's not illegal per se, but if you do not have a permit you can get a ticked and your car towed.... and let me tell you those towing fees are no joke.

I have parked all over Anaheim, Garden Grove, and Orange (for work, not Disney) and have never seen a permit area down there. I'm sure they exist, but I'm not sure where. Street cleaning is what you really need to watch out for.

Of course, but not all areas around Disney are permit only.

Yes I hate having to deal with the resident permits. We are constantly having residents call us to crack down on the people who sell them to high school students or commuters who want to park there. It is always the people who have nothing better to do than spy on their neighbors. I wish I could tell them to mind their own dam business, but I would get justifiably fired if I did so. I want to round them up and send them to China. They would have fit in perfectly during the Cultural Revolution working as informants. I think they must have been hall monitors when they were in elementary school.

I have also parked all over those areas, and there are streets by Disneyland that are permit only. I've seen them.
