I don't know what it is about some people that makes them so selfish with regard to parking spaces.

At work I park in a multi-level underground garage. It has tight turns and very little space to navigate unless everyone pays attention. Most days there are tons of wide open spaces on the last two floors, right near elevators too for those looking for convenience.

Today I entered the garage and the person in front of me saw someone walking back to their car. The person in front decided to back up and wait for the person leaving and grab the spot. The parking spot was right on a curve too so it was difficult to get in and out of to start.

I had to back up beyond the curve and wait for what was to happen. In the meantime, a line of cars started forming behind me. Then a SUV tried to leave the garage but couldn't because both the car that was waiting for the space and the line behind me was blocking them.

Soon cars behind me were blowing their horns but I was trapped, couldn't move forward or back. The car that was waiting for the space backed up even more for some reason, now completely blocking the curve and the person waiting to leave the coveted space.

The SUV driver got out and started telling the person causing the traffic tie up to move forward. I also told them there were plenty of spaces downstairs and that they had to move forward, please. The driver said "I don't want to go downstairs." All I could tell them was to look, they were now blocking EVERYONE including the person trying to get out of the parking space they wanted. Please move forward!

Finally they moved but I can't for the life of me understand why some people are so stubborn. Was that one space so worth the hassle? In all that time waiting all of us could have been parked and on our ways.

I think it's laziness. The time spent waiting could have been spent moving forward to find an open space.

Sorry you were caught in the middle. Have a better tomorrow.
