Parking for Visitors of Resort Guests

I will be staying at the Poly this July. My parents will be staying offsite.

When my parents come to visit me at the Poly, will they be allowed to leave their car at the Poly parking lot for the day while they visit the parks?

My parents did this while we were staying at the WL last November. They just had to give our names and their names to the "toll booth" when you enter MK. There wasn't a problem at all. We all hopped on the boat to MK together for the day and had a magical time. :wizard:

They will probably get a 3 hour parking pass when checking in with security upon entering the resort. The parking lot is for resort guests only. I suggest having them park at the ttc and just taking the monorail to the Poly.

Uh oh. Two replies and they are quite different.

I understand that 3 hour passes are provided for non-guests to eat or shop at a particular resort, but what about non-guests who are visiting a resort guest?

I also understand that the Poly is a monorail resort and special circumstance may apply. Would a visitor of a monorail resort guest get a day-long pass or a 3 hour pass?

I also recommend parking at the TTC, thus being able to park all day, for a fee.

The TTC is next door to the Poly, though, so they could walk over and meet you there easily.

These are $450/nite rooms. If this were a Motel 6, I would expect the perks to be limited. But this is a luxury hotel.

Are you telling me that parking for my visitors is not one of the perks and that my visitors have to take a tram, and then walk, to see me?

My grandparents come and get me every time we stay at a WDW hotel since we stay with them for a few days after before flying home. They have never had a problem. One time, my sister and dad parked for the whole day at the resort DH and I were staying at so we could all go to Disney together. I have no idea what the policy is, but I know that my relatives have not had a hard time at all.

I agree call the resort and even then you may get conflicitng answers from cm's as they are also very inconsistant. The point is if you are not staying there you are not supposed to park there. I am in no way trying to be rude but the can and will tow cars that do not have the proper parking pass so I say to park at the ttc only as a precaution unless they recieve the proper parking pass.

Tell them you have a car at check in and they will give you a pass.
give the pass to your parents..
if you alraedy have a car and will be parking there then you are out of luck...
No matter what the hotel costs those are the rules
in fact you would have an easier time having your parents parking at the motel 6 to visit you
on the flip side to perks... if everyone did that and you had a car as a resort guest you may not have a place to park and would be paying the same 450 a night then you would have reason to be angry....
it is not worth being angry about if you can afford the poly a few bucks for parking will not make or break you if that is the outcome

Ok I really don't intend to offend you but technically they are not just going to visit you at the hotel and then leave. What you are talking about is having them meet up with you to go to the parks. If they were just coming to see you then they would be able to get a 3 hour pass and it would be fine. But since you also intend to go to the parks that is on par with someone just going for breakfast at the hotel then leaving their car all day while they go to the MK when they should really be parking in the lots for day guests to the park. Again I really don't mean to offend you but that is the reason I see behind them not parking there all day. :wave2:

No matter what hotel I've stayed at, and I've stayed at just about every type from Ritz Carlton down to Econolodge, parking is for hotel guests only. It's not for guests of guests. Other hotels might allow it for a fee, but Disney just doesn't allow it, except for short term visits (3 hours or less).

I don't see what is so bad about them parking at the TTC. :confused3 I mean, it is literally next door to the Poly. It's a 5-minute walk, at the most. It costs money to park at the TTC if you're not an onsite guest, but so does just about everything at WDW.

Like another poster said, if you are not driving a car there yourselves then just get a parking pass when you check in and give it to your parents to put on their dashboard when they arrive.

I half-agree here. Pay for valet at the Polly, if that eases your mind. But why pay for the inconvenience? :teacher:

Thank you all for your replies.

No, I wasn't angry, just incredulous.

And no, I'm not trying to weasel out of a parking fee...I'm more concerned for the welfare of my 70 year old parents. Its far easier to park next to the hotel where they can easily meet us rather than have to wait in line to park, take a tram, walk to the Poly and then try to find us. Not a big hassle for younger folks, but mom and dad are prone to confusion and when mom gets confused she starts to argue..and when she starts to argue, the entire day can be ruined.

I called the Poly (407-824-2000). I asked to speak with the Security attendant at the gate. I did not mention the age of my parents, so I wasn't asking for special considerations...just that they are my visiting parents. The security attendant told me that my parents would be issued a day-pass for their car.

Problem solved. Thanks all.

Ah, parking and pool hopping! The 2 most volatile areas for questions. . . .
