parking for RVs?

I've spent many hours lurking here to prepare for our first camping trip to FW this November Our RV is a 20-ft long Class B (conversion van) and we're traveling with 2 small dogs. Do any or all of the 4 major parks have separate parking areas for RVs? We'd like to have the advantage of using our own wheels instead of DW busses, and the ability to go back to the RV in the afternoon to rest and care for the pups. Small dogs = small bladders. Thanks! Yep Disney Parks have RV Parking! They also have Kennels!

They have parking, on the paved lot which will be hot. There are no utilities so no air, it may not be a good idea to leave your fur babies in the RV, depending on the temperatures.

Definitely not a good idea to leave pets in an unattended RV in Florida. While it may seem quite cool in the morning when you go into a park....in a very short time the Florida sun can make the inside of your RV a sauna. I'd consider leaving your RV hooked up with the A/C set to come on if needed. Disney transportation really isn't that bad. Another idea......if you must take your RV to the parks maybe you could put your pets into the kennels they have at each park?? You could check on them as desired....take them out for a walk or rest with you in the RV....then return them to the kennel when you head back to the park.

If you are set on doing this (if its even possible), when visiting the MK its probably faster to use Disney transportation then parking at the TTC.

The MK's parking lot is across the lake from the entrance gates pretty much next door to FW.

From the TTC you may have to take a tram to the dock or the Monorail station and then a ferry or Monorail to the gates. Repeat to get back to your RV.

From FW you would take an internal bus to the marina and a boat to the MK. Probably the same amount of time.

I'm the OP. (Just practicing forum lingo ) Thanks for all your replies. I'm very aware of the danger of the RV getting too hot for the pups. I was kinda hoping you all would say, "No problem, mid-November is very mild in Orlando." I wanted to avoid the more time-consuming Disney transport (except MK) just because it would cut short our hours in each park given the time limit on our chihuahuas bladders. Somewhere in my lurking I missed the fact that all 4 major parks have a kennel, which we could indeed visit midday and not have to leave the area. That would be our best option, though do any other RVers use their generators for AC in the parking lots?

I'm sure many RV'ers do park and use the generator to keep their unit cool for their pets, or just to keep unit cool in general. Just my opinion, I would not do this due to the possible danger to my pet(s). A generator can shut off during the day due to a mechanical issue, then the temperature in the RV can rapidly climb and endanger your pet(s). I would much rather spend a few dollars a day knowing my pet was in an attended, air conditioned environment with an attendant to look after them.
November can still get pretty warm during the day, especially in a parked vehicle.

How would your dogs react being locked up in your RV in a parking lot, are they going to be running around barking at everything that goes by. If they are not used to this I think that would find it very traumatic.

With all the awareness (Betty White's PSA's) of leaving animals in locked vehicles in parking lots would someone think your dogs would need rescuing?

Thanks for the clicky to Disney Kennel info. Our dogs have traveled in the RV for months at a time over the past 3 years. No barking when we're parked at a zoo or other attraction. They sleep, I guess, with the "attic" fan on, windows open, and radio playing. They're sure not getting dinner ready for our return, unfortunately. However, being in a kennel will definitely be more unpleasant for them, though I recognize the better safety factor involved there. I was originally more concerned whether the parking lots each had a separate RV section since our MH is longer than a normal car space. I love the availability of so much knowledge on these forums.

IMO, I'd leave your camper hooked up at FW and take Disney transportation. It will take more time to unplug your electric/water/ sewer every day and then set up again on return than getting on the bus and your babies can stay in the comfort of their rolling home with no worries. Disney transportation is not bad at all...just plan accordingly.

We leave the transportation to Disney and just come back, let Elmo and Tinkerbell out, eat, relax, etc., and then go back into whatever park we want. It actually works out pretty good. We go in August and December, so we get the extremes of the temperatures. I guess it's a preference, you really aren't wasting that much time and sometimes it's nice just to come back and relax a little bit before venturing out again.

The last time my parents were at the fort, my aunt and uncle were along with them. My uncle has a handicapped card, so they would drive to the parks while my parents took disney transportation to meet them. My aunt and uncle always beat them to the parks, but not by so much time that my parents felt they should give up the buses and start driving. (And my uncle parks in the handicapped spots - close to the park, no trams....so how much time are you really saving by driving, parking and using the trams? Not a whole lot in my estimation.)

All that to say, it's a heck of a lot easier to just leave your rv plugged in, leave the pups home in the ac and just take the busses. You can come home around lunch, let the pups out, relax a little and then head back out for the evenings.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Nov-Dec can be all over the map, no way to predict. This is the time of year we usually go and we've gotten everything from 50-60s during the day to 80-85 - which would definitely not be a safe temp in the parking lot.

I totally have to agree with this statement. I grew up in Florida, but now live in Virginia. We went to the Fort for a week last year, starting the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and this is exactly how the temps went for that week.
