I am sure there was a thread re this a bit ago but I cant seem to find it.

If we are going to Chef Mickeys & MK on same day am I correct in thinking we park up as normal get the monorail, Get off at the Contempary, Have breakfast then get the monorail again to MK and continue our day. Or do we need to park elsewhere and re-park for MK?

Jodie,

The "official" line is that you will only get a 3 hour pass for breakfast so you would have to move your car. Others report having left their car their successfully but I have not done this myself!

I would move it but I worry about everything and I would spend all day in MK thinking about being clamped!! I doubt this would happen though!

Hi Jodie
Each time I have caught the mono rail it didn't stop at the hotel but passed through it. My advice would be to get off at the MK and then consider the transport to the hotel. I know that there are signs to the right of the Mono rail once you are about to walk up to the entrance of MK.
I thought about this as I was interested in booking for Chef Mickey's but have now booked for the LTT on the 7th Oct when we are at MNSSHP.
Have a great time

OMG!

Good job I asked, I am positive the monorail I was on stoped to let people on/off but perhaps not. That would have been a big setback for the day!

We will def' be parking as though to go to MK as we will be heading there straight after and dont want to mess around re-parking or risk getting clamped. Glad I have this info now Thankyou.

Just to clarify!!

The monorail DOES stop at the Contemporary! You have to catch the "resorts" monorail. The other monorail is the "express" one that goes directly to MK without stopping anywhere!

Jodie

Miffy's right about the getting the 'Resorts' monorail but I think the 3 hour rule only applies when you park in the Contemporary Resort car park.

I take it you intend parking in the MK parking lot as normal, going to the CR and then onto MK. If that's the case then you don't need to worry about the 3 hour rule.

One other point I'd make. You'll need to take the 'Resorts' Monorail to the MK after breakfast. I think this travels clockwise around the lake which means you'll visit every other stop - TCC, Polynesian, Grand Floridian - after leaving the CR before getting to the MK. I suggest you just walk across to the MK.

Oh Lord, I am getting confused now!

Just to clarify beyond idiot proof...

I CAN park as normal for MK then get the RESORT monorail to Contempary then get monorail to MK? - I am not fussed about going the scenic route to MK, It could be fun seeing some of the hotels.

Yup that's right. Another question on this - as an AP holder, I am entitled to free parking at the resorts - for Chef Mickey's could I then just park at the Contemporary and walk to MK leaving my car there all day?

If you park at the MK - you can def leave your car while you catch the monorail (resorts one.) However, you can also walk - it's about 5 mins max (its well signposted) and then get the monorail from the Contemporay straight to the magic kingdom!! You'll love Chef Mickeys - its the best (my son still asks for the breakfast pizzas that he had there!!!) Don't get ripped off by the photo package they try to do for you when you arrive!! Also, if you're staying on Disney property - don't you get free parking wherever you go???

That's what I thought, but when you think about it, then everyone on site would want to park at the Contemporary and GF - maybe enough people don't think to do this for MK and also like to get the monorail or boat to MK - it also helps with the impression of it being detached and you have to travel by mono or boat to get to it - this all adds to the magic. I know that at least on one occasion I'll be looking to use the monorail!

park at Wilderness lodge,,walk thro to the boat dock ,get boat to the contempory.. visit chef mickys and then get monorail to magic kingdom..makes a nice trip of it and you can return same way ::MickeyMo

Yes you are absolutely right :)

Sorry if I caused any confusion, I thought you intended to park at the Contemporary which is why I referred to the 3 hour pass!

Nick - I am an AP holder and I thought this gave me free parking at the parks? Didn't realise it applied to the resorts too. Mind you having said that you don't pay to park at those anyway I suppose.

HI there
This is a tip that I got from these boards a year ago. We were off site but had a 9.30am PS for Chef Mickey. We drove to The Contemorary and then paid for valet parking (soz can't remember how much it cost Approx$15 I think). We then had breakfast (very nice it was too) and then got the monorail to MK. It did go the long way round for some reason. We stayed at MK all day and then walked from MK back to The Contemp and picked up our car, no problems whatsoever, and it was lovely walking out of the park and not having to fight for the ferry or monorail.
Hope you enjoy it and have a great time :cool1:

We had reservations for Chef Mickey's last year. It was our first day and once we found our way to the hotel (is was 7:00am and there was nobody around to ask for directions) we went through our booking details with the security guard / parking attendent and he said that we could use the hotel car park for the day at no cost!!! What wonderful people they are at Disney.
