I have a res at Kona for breakfast. Can we drive to the resort and park there for our reservation? Do you pay to park at the resorts when you are not staying there but have an ADR? Also, we will be going to check out the BC/BW area to tour the resorts and grounds. How would parking for that be handled? We are staying offsite this time and don't usually have to deal with this situation.

There is not a fee for parking at a resort. When you pull into the resort, you will have the option of valet parking or self parking. Either way, a parking pass will be placed in your windshield. I think it is for 3 hours (dont quote me on that). You can not hop the monorail and spend the day at MK or Epcot, your car may be towed. I know they are strict at the Contemporary and Boardwalk Inn, but Im not sure how strict they are about that at Polynesian. I suppose if a guest had a hard time parking, they might do a search of the lot, but last time I was there, they do not have a gated lot like they do at the other resorts.

if you pay to valet park, you can leave the car there all day and on into the evening for that matter. The only time they will turn you down is during absolutely packed-holiday time when they may restrict valet parking to that resort's guests. But other than like Christmas & 4th of July, you can pay to valet park & can leave your car there while you hop the monorail to the parks. We have done this several times. You will not be towed from the valet lot (unless you leave car overnight-but even then, if they know you're a Disney resort guest at another Disney hotel, they'll just charge your room for another day's valet parking.) Cost is around $12, plus a couple dollars tip when you pick it up.

The self-parking pass for meal reservation is 3 hours. And there are reports of people being towed when past the 3 hour permit.

Ok this is similar, what about visiting the spa at the gf do you park at the gf, what if that will take longer than 3 hours? I am just thinking spa I would not want to be rushed. So I am trying to figure this out, my husband would probably just read a paper and sit in the lobby or near the quiet pool.

However, if you are going to a Resort that is within the MK toll plaza (such as the Poly) you will have to pay the toll to get in. That will allow you to park in any of the parking lots for the theme parks for that day at no additional charge. And more than lilkely they will not refund your $12.00 parking fee.

We never have to pay if we are just going to the Poly,Contemporary, or GF, we just tell them what resort/restaurant we are headed to.

We visited several resorts last week and I think that it was the first time in many years that they just told us where to park and gave nothing to put on the dash with the 3 hour limit. Maybe it was not crowded enough. We were only there for meals and to look around, but it was nice not to be rushed!
