The All Star resorts are great, and a wonderful option for families. But you really can't compare them to the Universal hotels.
The Loews hotels are rated 4 diamonds by
AAA, which puts them in the same league as the Grand Floridian, Beach Club, etc.
Even Deluxes like Animal Kingdom Lodge are only 3 diamonds.
The All Star are 2 diamonds.
While the diamond rating isn't everything, it does give one a basis for comparison.
So, getting a 4 diamond hotel for the rates Universal charges, a $15.00 + tax parking fee is pretty much negligible.
For my dates, I am getting a 4* hotel for $205 per night. For the exact same days at the Beach Club (a comparable resort) it would be costing me $480.99

per night. (AAA rates)
I don't have a problem at all adding $15 + tax to my nightly rate at the Portofino

And one of the reasons we always stay at Universal and drive over to Disney if we want to do anything over there.
