Parking fees at GCH?

If you stay at the GCH, do you have to pay a parking fee? We are thinking of renting a car in San Diego keeping it for 10 days and then dropping it off at LAX.

Parking is included in your resort fee so it is already covered. Valet parking however has an extra charge.

Be advised, though, that the parking which is inlcuded in the resort fee is across the street from the GCH. This is usually not a problem for most folks, but just so you know in advance in case you have a lot of luggage or people with aches and pains who don't like to do any extra walking (like the one I was with!)...worst case scenario, you will have to possibly park at the far end of the lot across the street and then walk across Disneyland drive to the GCH. It is more economical to do it that way than to use valet.

The valet parking, if I can recall correctly, cost us something like $36 total for two full days. Both times when I have stayed at the GCH with DIFFERENT sets of people, the people I was with didn't want to bother with the parking included in our resort fee. They wanted valet! So basically, we paid for parking TWICE, which was stupid.

Absolutely. Unload at the drive-through, check in, and then driver can go park and walk back.

Well, if you are at DLH, the parking for DLH is right there. It is only GCH where the parking is across the street, and once my friend pulled up into the congested area around the valet desk, she considered dropping me off with the bags and then going across the street, but she was going to have to wait a while to get out of the lot to go across the street and then come back to me, so it ended up just being easier and faster to leave the car with the valet dude. And as it turned out, the lot across the street was very full so even the valet guy had a hard time finding a spot for the car. We went at a very busy time of year, though. My friends just didn't really want to deal with trying to find a space over there and then having to deal with going back across the street when we left DL and then coming back to the GCH driveway to get me and the bags.
