Parking at WDW

Can you park there, and just walk to the park?

It depends which park you refer to. You cannot park and walk to the MK, because it's parking lot is on the other side of Bay Lake. You must go to the transportation and ticket center and take a ferry or monorail.

For all the other parks, you may walk from the parking lot to the gate, but the parking lots are so large that unless you are one of the first people there in the morning (and thus have a close parking spot) you would be much better off taking the tram.

If you mean the Magic Kingdom, no, you cannot walk to the park. You take a tram from your car to the Ticket and Transportation Center. You can then decide if you want to ride a boat or the monorail. This will take you to the entrance of the MK.

If you are at another park, you could walk to the park from your car, which is faster than the tram if you are close. If you are parked further away, the tram is your best bet to saving yourself some extra walking.

It depends on what park you are talking about. First, if you are a Disney resort guest there is no fee to park. It's $9.00 a day for everyone else but you only pay once per day. Just save your receipt if you want to drive to another park later or leave and come back.
Generally you park and (depends on the time of day) you can either walk or take a tram to the park entrance. The lots are HUGE so if you are way back you will not want to walk. This is true for all parks and the TTC (Transportation and Ticket Center) which is the parking lot for the Magic Kingdom. Only Disney buses are allowed near the Magic Kingdom entrance. All other traffic must park at the TTC and after the walk or tram you can either monorail over to the Magic Kingdom or take the boat over.
If you are a staying off-site you are still welcomed to use all WDW transportation as long as you have a theme park admission.
