Hi all,

We arrived yesterday for our long awaited family reunion vacation at the Treehouses to find that there was NO parking anywhere near our villa. We were further informed by Security that there is NO "assigned" parking and we were pretty much SOL. We are very close the to entrance and we were welcome to park over at SSR....ummmmmm.....NO!

Why don't they assign spaced to villas OR at the very least enforce the one vehicle rule?

Call me steaming mad!

That is awful! I can imagine trying to get your bags to your room would be a terrible chore, and then the inconvenience of logistics every time. I'd be mad too!

The place is pretty far out too, isn't it? Do they have buses come through? I wouldn't want to deal with it and just park the vehicle and forget it, but it might be too far out to do that.

You shouldn't have to worry about that! Hope you can find some spots soon.

Apparently someone in the area has more than one vehicle and aren't considerate of the other guests. It's not much different at some of the buildings at OKW where the CMs park in the guest parking at the villas. Then when you return in the late morning or early afternoon, no places to park.

You should be able to park at the end of the stairs to unpack and then you have to move your car.

Not much different than BWV when the lot is full of cars from people parking there to go to Epcot.

That is terrible. This is exactly why we have no intention of ever staying there. There should be at least ONE assigned parking space to each TH.

If you have an issue with how the parking is handled, you need to contact Member Satisfaction and let them know. The more members that have stayed there and lodge a complaint, the more likely a solution will be put into place.

Color me confused. Each unit has one parking spot. As I understood it, you're only permitted one vehicle per unit to park in that spot. So other than you looking to put more than one vehicle there, what is the issue? Are folk parked all over the roads? If so, all those cars out there would tick me off. Part of the charm of the tree houses is to be able to walk the roads and be surrounded by nature, not vehicles. Everyone with additional vehicles should be parked over by Grandstand where there's plenty of parking and a direct bus run to the tree houses (or a moderate walk along the golf course)

I don't understand why they don't have two assigned parking spaces to each THV. They sleep nine people and often it's two families in the same THV, so doesn't make sense to have 2 parking spaces?

Hopefully the OP will write to DVC Member satisfaction and complain. If enough members complain perhaps DVC will at least assign the one space to the villa and if were lucky add more parking spaces.

The problem is that there are no assigned spaces...(other than handicapped)....at all...period. This is per DVC Member Services, the Manager at SSR and the Security guys.

The "rule" is that you park only one car at THV and, if you have another, please park over at SSR in an area that they assign (either Paddock or Grand Stands, as I understand it). We do have 2 vehicles. We are fine with parking the second at SSR....the problem is that we can't even park 1 remotely close to the THV we are staying in. Why? Well, apparently because some rude individuals are parking 2+ (in one case, 4) cars near their villa.

My suggested resolution to Member Services was 1) number all spots, 1 per villa; 2) tell guests checking in that they receive only 1 parking permit for THV and as such, any vehicle without said permit will be ticketed and then towed 12 hours later.

I don't know who the idiot was that designed THV, but (as I learned today)...there are some areas with 5 villas and only 4 parking spaces! We just happen to be in an area where there are 2 villas and 2 parking spaces....and I'm not able to park in either. When I visited with my neighbor this morning and politely asked her to kindly move one car, I was basically told to go pound sand. And, you guessed it, guest services (ha...services...ha), is doing nothing to enforce parking rules.

Even as an owner, I was told to "find another spot" or park at SSR.

Yep, makes me glad I own at SSR. 315 vacation points for a week in a THV and I can't even park in a reasonabl distance from my villa. The spots just up the way are all filled....the ones down the way are all filled...I can park by the pool....but I'm up at the entry. Yep, that's just perfect !

Oh, and as far as the second car goes....it is at SSR! So is my first! I'm so frustrated I could spit nails!

Ah, OK... I see now.
I think a personal visit to the front desk and good long chat with the manager will help to resolve the situation. Stand your ground with the manager and don't back down until they get you your parking spot back. Your neighbor's behavior is intolerable. If he can't help you out - ask him who can and demand to talk to them right there.

I agree! That is just so wrong!

Did that...or attempted to do so. Was told again that "spaces are not assigned" and without know who's car that is (or those are), there is nothing they can do.

I did talk with a DVC Member Services manager today who was sympathetic and said she would try to find a "no parking" sign that could be posted in, if spaces were assigned, would be my spot and that I would be welcome to take it down and park there. The good news is that I walked over to the Grand Stand a bit ago to run an errand off Disney property....and low and behold when I came back there was a spot across the street from where I'm staying. I snatched that spot and I'm hoping not to have to move.

It's just ridiculous!

I don't believe there are assigned parking spaces at any of the DVC resorts, so in that respect, THVs are not unique. Having said that, each car does require a parking pass so - in principle - it should be easy enough to determine whether a car is legally parked in the THV area. Of course Disney is notorious for not enforcing its own rules.

Nevertheless, I think the OP's concerns are valid and DVC needs to be made aware that in an area where parking spots are at a premium, guests should be expected to comply with the rules. If they can theoretically fine people who smoke in villas, I expect illegally parked cars could be made to feel a little financial pain as well.

I've been to many of the other DVC resorts (except Aulani and Vero) and I agree that there aren't "assigned spaces." But I think at THV it's just a must...particularly since parking is at such a premium. I'm thinking that tomorrow while I'm walking from my villa to the Grand Stand to get a car, I'm going to count the number of spaces. I'm just really curious!

(As an aside, I was talking with my mom a bit ago and she said, Dear Lord...bless whomever at Disney my daughter is dealing with....she's a determined woman when she gets really angry.) She doesn't even know the half of it! I'm now a woman on a mission!!!!! It's just wrong, plain and simple.

I thought the parking pass you are supposed to have in your front window has your name on it. It would be very easy to print out only one per TH and tow/ticket cars that don't have the pass.

Sounds easy anyway. I'd be so annoyed too.

Actually, no, they really could not limit it to one pass per THV. That pass also grants them free theme park parking, if they choose to drive. If the party splits and goes to two different parks, both would need a pass.

Color coding the pass would work. Only the car with a certain color pass could park at the THV. But it would also require enforcement, via a manned guard shack or added walking security. That would up dues for everyone at SSR, as they are legally one resort.

Or print out a parking pass that says good for one space at THV and all the other parking passes a guests requests is good for one space at the Grandstand (or wherever they want you to park) and it should state NOT GOOD FOR PARKING AT THV.

At Disney there seems to be a lot of stress caused by others not being considerate and following rules.

We have stayed at the Grandstand area and had to park really far from our room due to Treehouse cars. You would think they would park in the further out spots.
