Parking at the Parks

We are going to be there May 16 to May 23, staying off site, and planning to drive to the parks because the hotel shuttle does not leave until 8:30 each morning. I have tried to find out if we go from for example AK to the MK will we have to pay to park at each park, or do you just pay once. Also, how bad is the traffic at the end of the day? The only other time we were there we stayed at the DTD hotels and used their shuttle, which was excellent .

You only have to pay once a day. If you are leaving right after Illuminations or Fantasmic it can get a little hectic, but not terrible. DH always drives, and he has nothing but wonderful things to say about how clearly everything is marked.

We always drive to the parks. We like to be independent!! Just show the attendant your parking pass for that day when you drive into the next park. They'll just wave you through.
My biggest advice is for leaving MK at closing. DON'T!!! It's a madhouse!! Everyone is leaving in a huge crowd to get to the monorail or the ferry. I was worried someone would fall down and get trampled. We now either leave half an hour before closing or shop and wait on mainstreet for a while. Just plan ahead! Have fun!!
