We are staying off site this time.
But we love to visit Animal Kingdom Lodge just to enjoy it!
Are we able to park at a resort for free? (I have seen conflicting reports--they will scan your Magic band to see if your are staying on site to no one checked anything...)
Thanks!

you can for a couple of hours many people do eat at their counter service restaurant and park there, go a try the worst that can happen is they telling no.

I didn't even think about that we would have already paid for park parking--does that count?

if you are already at the parks, and pay for parking, why don't just take a bus to the resort?

Figure we would do it on the way back to the cono...

You'll be fine, the resorts are open to the public and welcome visitors. :) You'll probably be asked to show a photo ID, but then they'll wave you right through.

Resorts that are close to MK and Epcot can be stricter about parking during busy times.

It doesn't matter if they've paid for park parking or not. Resort parking is free to everyone, including guests not staying there.
Actually, no. Many of the deluxe resorts that are adjacent to a theme park do limit parking to guests who are staying at that resort or who have an ADR. Sometimes, even with an ADR, they might not let you park, unless you pay for valet parking.
