Parking at resorts when you have an ADR

We have a dinner ADR for 1900 Park Fare on one of our MK days. I was hoping to visit MK in the morning, take a break at our resort (CSR) then drive to the Grand Floridian for our dinner.

After that it would be great to be able to take the monorail back to MK for a few hours, but I'm not sure if that is allowed or frowned upon? MK is just such a pain to get back to.

If your not going to be more then 3 hrs your ok. Otherwise it may be easier to take the MK bus and then hop on the GF boat for dinner then monorail to MK for the evening. I think the kids will enjoy the different transportation. It would be an adventure !!

Yes, it is frowned upon. Can you get away with it?? Probably. But as a frequent guest at BWV, I hate trying to find a parking spot midday. The spaces in the front half of the lot are always full. But then, after 10pm, they suddenly become empty!!! All those park goers who have parked their cars there, at BW, for their time in Epcot, and are now headed out after IllumiNations.
So, if you want to do the right thing, you'll either 1. take the bus to MK and then monorail or ferry over to the GF (and reverse it after dinner) or 2. drive and park at the TTC and take the monorail to GF, then to MK and back to TTC at the end of the day.
Of course, you can also pay to valet park at the GF..then you can do wherever you want to, all day long.

We had an ADR for Le Cellier on 6/28 and parked at the BCV with no problems at all. pirate:

If you aren't valet parking at the GF, know that parking is quite a hike. I think it would be quicker to monorail back and forth IMO.

Trying to decide if you had no idea that this was frowned upon, or are just trying to :stir: Parking lots at the resorts are for the use of resort guests, whether staying there, or using their amenities such as restaurants. They are not supposed to be used for non-resort guests going to the parks.

We have a early morning ADR at Chef Mickeys and I would love to be able to park and then ride the monorail into MK. If I valet park is this allowed? How much is it to valet park?

Yes, if it use the valet. Not if you self park. I believe valet is $14 plus tip now.

At least $2. So many people wanting to do this I wonder how long before Disney has to put some rules on this.

They won't unless it starts to impact the parking spaces in the valet lots. And I doubt that will happen at most locations. That service is outsourced so the valet company is happy to keep allowing it.

I figure it is about as much as parking in a MK lot but it will keep me from having to unload toddler and stroller and all my crap more than once! LOL I would rather just hop the monorail and head over to MK.

I don't think it's popular at all. We had a dinner reservation at the CR on a Saturday night, and we valet parked and then headed out to the park after dinner. We were the only ones waiting for our car after Wishes. It is really only the folks who are eating at that resort who would want to do this. Out of all the people at the parks, it's a very small number.

We ran by the Poly our last night in Disney last week which also coincided with the halloween party. We had been visiting the Poly almost daily that week (for legitimate purposes - we ate/shopped there almost every day) and that was the only night the parking lot was PACKED and it was obvious it was people going to the party. I even commented to my husband that I was surprised the guards weren't saying anything. However, out of all the times we drove through the gate, only once did the guard ask us the purpose of our visit (granted it was one of the slowest weeks of the year). We were never given a parking pass, just waved through.

Not saying any of this for people to bypass the rules, but just an observation of our experience.

Ah, you are a newer member of the DIS, I see. This happens all the time. People always want to valet part at the CR or one of the MK resorts so they can dine and/or dash over to the MK for a few hours. Valet parking should be reserved for the guests who are dining and leaving or guests of that resort. But the valets are eager to make a buck....

I realize all that. But, the parking guards weren't there through parts of the 1990's (at least) and then everyone got the idea of using self-parking and so overwhelmed the self-parking that the guards came back. Now that it's becoming common place to suggest that people valet park to park all day. I have no problem with it but since people have a way overusing and thus ruining a good thing I just wonder how long before Disney has to react, not there yet, but someday if the usage increases. After all, there is some finite limit to how many cars valet can handle.

I don't see what my newness to a bulletin board has to do with anything. I don't think there were hordes of people using the valet service to park all day at the resort. My family and I dined at resorts for dinner on a few occasions, and then headed over to the closest park for a couple of hours afterwards. We did it on the busiest night at MK and we were the only ones collecting a car from the valet after wishes, and we were there during the summer. We also parked at the Beach Club for dinner, and walked over to WS for a few hours. Again, no hordes invading the BC hogging up all the valet spots. It's not cheaper to valet park, and it's not THAT convenient. I'd think that most guests at that resort are probably using the Disney transport, or use the self-park.

I wouldn't overstay in the self-park, but the valet is fine.

Most of the deluxe resorts that are connected to a theme park have signs posted at the entry stating they are sorry but they cannot provide theme park parking. Those are when you enter the lot at the guard shack, not just at the self parking area.

I called and asked the resort about valet parking, and they said you could park for as long as you wanted. I don't see why you couldn't, you're paying for it.

My point was that there aren't hordes of people hogging up valet. I don't know why anybody would have a problem with it if it's not hurting anyone. Disney's making money from the valet company, and the valet company is making money from me.
