Hello all. Are there other options for parking for DCL at port canaveral other than at the port directly. Was wondering if there are cheaper options avail. Thanks all

Google "Port Canaveral Parking" and a number of off-site locations will appear.

The only off-site lot we've used was Park n Cruise (parkcruise.com).

We've used the Park N Cruise a couple of times. The first time they drove around the lot with a bus, showed us where to park, picked up the bags, put them in the bus and took us straight to the ship, at half the cost of parking at the port ramp. The second time they had me pull in front and unload my own bags onto a concrete pad, waved generally at a place to park, I waited for 20 minutes on a concrete pad in the morning heat, loaded my own bags on the bus and packed in with 10 or 12 others to the ship. Same cost, same place. When we go in February, I'll park at the ramp at the port and pay the freight....

We have only ever parked at the port. Sure it costs more, but it makes things so much easier for us, especially with a toddler. After a cruise, the porters grab my bags, help us through customs, and then up to our car, where they will even load them in for us. Oh and yes, the parking garage keeps my car nice and cool in the shade away from the burning sun, so the package of gummies and chocolate we forgot, not an ooey gooey mess. Or if it is raining, no standing around getting wet while loading or unloading the trunk. With how quick it is, we just get on the road listening to our DCL playlist as we head for home instead of waiting for a shuttle. No stress at all. I know it isn't for everyone parking in the parking garage, but for our family, totally worth it.

We park at the port in preferred lot. It is $20.00 more for whatever the length of our time is but we are good with it. :)
We live in Florida (about 45 minutes from port) so we are quite acclimated to having our car sit in the sun and heat daily anyway. When we leave at 8:45 or 9 AM it is not that hot to begin with and air conditioner cools things off quickly while they are loading the car up.
If it is raining...well...that happens daily as well...we dry off eventually. lol

And what is wrong with melted gummies and slightly mushy chocolate? lol Sounds divine.

While we each have our reasons for our choices, can I ask why you choose the preferred lot? It didn't seem like much of an advantage. What am I missing?

We find it more efficient to unload right there at the terminal, park and and get in line to get in the terminal on embarkation day. And on debarkation day, it is the same in reverse, the porters bring our luggage to the car right across the lot, load it up and off we go. We have never encountered traffic when arriving or leaving the preferred lot and it just moves easier. We have not tried the garage, so I really cannot compare the ease of that process personally, but I have seen that the cars get sort of backed up with private transport cars and luggage seems to be piled up on top of each other waiting to be taken to the terminal. I also have not noticed traffic from the garage to the exit of the lot either so...maybe it is not that bad?
Either way, the extra 20.00 is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. :)

We have used Park Port Canaveral for four cruises. Less expensive than the port terminal parking lot, secure parking lot, and shuttles run constantly. The shuttle ride is about 15 minutes. If you pre-pay your reservation, it is $6.95/ day.
:)

Anyone know if there has ever been flooding issues during a storm or surge on the 1st floor of the parking garage at Port Canaveral?

not as far back as I can remember ... no flooding of any significance at the port - I was first stationed here in 86 .... when the port has been closed during and after a storm the reason was verifying no shoaling had occurred (filling in the channel with mud/sand) and that aids to navigation were in the correct position and operating (lights and buoys)
