Hi!

Which parking facility would you recommend that's safe, close and economical to park for a trip lasting a week and leaving from Newark NJ airport? We have to get there around 5am and arriving back late at night, so we would like it to be in a secure area where we could leave our car.

Thanks in advance!! :)

Vista and Avistar are both very good...safe and secure.

We usually park at the airport on the monorail line just so we don't have to deal with what we had to deal with when we used Avistar. It was a total nightmare!! At pick up, the driver (did not speak english) kept driving by right where we were standing at the pick up door I told the phone operator. It took 5 drive bys and 3 telephone calls to get him to the correct door.

Then, and I know it's not their fault, but it really ticked me off after waiting 40 minutes to be picked up, the van broke down on the ramp leaving the airport. 30 minutes later, another van came and picked us up. When I complained at the office, they were super rude (and I wasn't nasty either). And the 3 vans we were in for drop off and pick up were filthy, smelly, just really disgusting. My ex-DH was like how much cheaper was this than the airport?? I said not cheap enough! :lmao:

I just wanted to get that out there because I will NEVER us Avistar again - that lower price just wasn't worth the hassle.

Sorry you had a problem. I have used them over 2 dozen times and never had a problem.

Oh yeah, I know many people who do which is why I did too, but mostly I won't use them again because of how rude they were to me after the nightmare pick up.

Just wanted to put my little story out there so people know they could end up with a PIA. ;)

My DH uses Avistar all the time, so last year when I booked a trip with friends he told us to use Avistar. So, anyway we returned back to NJ and were picked up by Avistar (red-eye flight). We arrived at the parking lot and got into our car, but there were no keys. So, my friend went inside to ask for the keys and apparently woke up the girl at the desk (it was about 6am). Anyway, she didn't want to hand over the keys because we didn't have a printed confirmation. So, my friend pulls up the confirmation email on her iphone and shows it to the girl behind the counter. The girl's response? "Could you print that out for me?"

My friend apologized and said that she forgot her printer at home.:rotfl2::lmao:

We always drive ourselves and park at the airport when we travel. We park in the economy lot 6 - take a shuttle bus to airport. Buses are running all the time and we have never had a problem. It's $18 a day Here's a link that might help -

If we drive ourselves we do the same economy lot. OP how far are you from the airport? Depending on where you are it may be cheaper to get a car service than pay for parking. If I'm going to be gone a few days I'll drive and park but for a week or more I get a car service.

We are near Red Bank...I haven't checked prices lately but I know it's more than what we spend for the week.

We used Airpark for our last trip and they were great. We called as soon as we landed and they came right away with a van to get us and we were out of there in a few minutes. The trip before that we tried to get a taxi...what a nightmare, waited over an hour. I'd highly recommend Airpark, it was great.

Hi!

Thanks for all the suggestions - we are coming from the SJ area (Near Cherry Hill) so it is a little bit of a distance. As we are leaving in the middle of the night, I prefer driving ourselves just so I have more control over things. Usually we have to get up even earlier when we use a car service  - not that I won't be up all night packing anyway!

BTW, I like the idea of being a monorail for parking (makes me think of WDW :goodvibes) - but I will check out the other places with my DH and decide which way to go!

Thanks everyone!! :)

We used Avistar in 2008. They were o.k. Hard to find coming from the north. I will use the airport parking lot if I fly out of Newark - just a pain -especially landing so late at night like we did.

I always park in the long term lots at Newark Airport. They are fenced in and secure and I've never had a problem. The buses come around pretty quickly to take you to the terminal. I put the fee on my EZPass on the way out and it's quick.

We always use Vista www.vistaparking.com

It's quite a bit cheaper than parking even in the econo lots at the airport. The load your luggage into their van, park your car for you, drop you off right at your terminal, pick you up right at the door and your car is waiting for you right in the front when they bring you back to their lot.

We were in WDW during that huge blizzard in the end of February, even with all that snow they cleared my Jeep off, not even any frost on the windows when we got there :thumbsup2 We were also stuck in WDW for a few extra days so we just called them to let them know our stay was extended, no problems
