Parking at Kidani??

I've stayed at Kidani before, but parking wasn't an issue. This time it will be since we are renting a car. I know there is covered parking but how does that work? Is it first come, first served? Or, is there room enough for all. Do we just drive in, park and then checkin? Or do we checkin first then park?? I'm so familier with other resorts and parking but Kidani is a first for me.

Yes, parking is first come, first serve. Covered parking may not be adequate for all vehicles if the resort is full with a normal number of vehicles per guest. There are many spaces just outside, which are also very close.

I would check in first to get bell services to handle the luggage (or even if you want to handle it yourself). Then park in the area closest to an elevator to get to the room.

I think we checked in first to find out the room location, then they told us the best area to park. The covered parking is great, and we were there President's week and never had a problem parking close to the nearest elevator for our room. We loved Kidani (and the parking was one of DH's favorite parts!). Enjoy!

You check in first. You can pull up at the front entrance, have baggage taken (unless you want to haul it to room yourself), and then park nearby in a lot that allows parking only for a limited time so you can go check in. Once done and knowing where your room is on map they give you, you can then drive to the entrance of the under-building lot, which means you actually have to backtrack like you are exiting from Kidani and go to a rode that has the only entrance to the under-building parking lot. You then drive through under the building until you get near an elevator that is near where your room will be (there are two elevators along each of the two wings).

There are always parking places even at the busiest times of year (we have been at Christmas time with a car) but the issue can be how close can you actually get to the elevator that is closest to the room you have. How close you can get often depends on time of day you are trying to get a space (e.g., if going in during mid-day, there are usually plenty of places close to the elevator of your choice because many who are parking there have their cars at a park; it can be somewhat more of a challenge if returning late at night after many others have already returned but even then you can usually find something that is not too far away from the applicable elevator).

Last time we visited was last summer, and the covered parking was pretty much full. Maybe people drive more in the summer months? I recall having to park "outside" once or twice, but maybe I didn't look at the entire covered parking area? All I know is that my car wasn't the only one out there, and during the summer you really prefer to be under cover with the car if possible!

My only problem parking at Kidani was that there is only 1 handicap spot at the elevator. If you don't happen to get there first, you end up parking in a regular spot sometimes far from the elevator. When we were there in March, there was a car without handicap plates/tag consistently parked in the one handicap spot. I complained to the front desk, but I don't know that anything was ever done. I was told to call the police to have them come issue a ticket because the front desk wouldn't even call the guest to ask them to move (name was on the parking permit in the car so they knew who it belonged to.)

We were at Kidani Village in June. When we checked in we left our car out front with the valets approval, we had to leave our key, and told them we were not valet parking, just checking in. When we checked in they told us what area, each section has a name, under the building would be the best place to park even though our room wasn't ready and we had not been given a room number yet.

I would think the underground parking area closest to the lobby fills up the quickest because guests that are just dining at the resort park there as well. We were five beads from the lobby so we always found plenty of parking.

We're driving over from BWV...beating feet out of the Epcot area and F&W over the weekend....in mid-Oct. So, we should be there mid to late morning I would imagine. Thanks for the info...it helped.

We've never had a problem finding a spot in the underground parking area.

It does fill up quickly but we have always found a parking spot. You might have to walk a few extra steps, which I don't mind in the morning but at the end of the day I do mind.

I imagine more people attempt to park inside in the hotter summer months to keep the vehicles cooler.

Not down at the end in Pumba parking. There is no outside parking there.

Does the underground parking area accommodate vans with a car carrier on top? I know many traditional parking garage entrances do not provide enough clearance. Just curious as we arrive at Kidani on Saturday!

There is a height limit on the under building parking, but I don't remember what it is. There are lots outside if you can't fit under the building. Though if your room is by the pool end you will have a long walk.

I have stayed at Kidani with a car a couple of times. Last year in August, I noticed that the first year areas right after you enter the parking area was full, but we were over near the pool end of the building so there was plenty of parking near the elevator closest to our room.
