Parking at Contemporary for Chef Mickeys?

Sorry if this has been asked, Search doesn't seem to work..but if we have ADRs for Chef Mickeys for Breakfast and we wanted to drive from OKW..can we park at the resort?

if so, if we want to go to MK after do we have to move our car.

Yes, you can park at the Contempory, and then go to MK we did just that. At the gate the guard will ask for information, we told him we had ADR's, maybe the time and the ADR number (don't quite remember ). Anyway, after our breakfast we left the car there and walked to the MK, could have taken the monorail but wanted to give the path a try. We went back when we were ready to leave and got the car.

You can park your car there for breakfast. But I am pretty sure you MUST park at the Magic Kingdom parking lot for your day of adventure. Cars parked at the Contemporary for the entire day are strictly for resort guests.

If you are planning on going to MK after breakfast I would park at the TTC and take the monorail to the Contemporary. You are allowed to park at the Contemporary for your ADR but you aren't allowed to park there to visit MK.

most don't. In the 4-5 times we have had chef mickey adr's and had to drive over, we never moved our car, were never ticketed, or towed.

I had an ADR for Chef Mickey's during our New Year's trip. I used my Disney Dining Experience card to have free valet parking, and I asked when I parked if I needed to move my car after our meal because we intended to go to the MK. I was told it was fine to leave my car in valet parking as long as I wanted for the day. We enjoyed the MK for a few hours, then left about 3pm and retrieved our car. I'm sure this was a DDE perk, but it was nice!!!!!

There are signs at the CR that state that they are unable to provide parking for the theme parks.

Valet parking might be an option, but, if it's a holiday or there's a large convention, they might not allow you to utilize that service, just be prepared in that case.

We've always been given a three hour parking permit. Sometimes they've had a list of ADR's, sometimes they haven't.

I have seen cars towed out of that lot while watching the marathoners run past from my balcony. I watched the tow truck circle following a Disney security vehicle. The Disney security guy would hop out every now and then and check a permit in a windsheild. Twice he motioned to the tow driver to remove the car. While I don't think it happens every day, it does happen. The lot wasn't all that full that day, so I was surprised that they were towing cars.

The easiest way to make sure that you'll be able to park and get to your ADR and not have to move the car afterwards is to park at the TTC, take the monorail to the CR, then walk to the MK after breakfast.

When DH and I ate at Cali Grill in August, the security guard did not give us any kind of permit. We told him we had ADRs and he waved us through (did not ask for a number or anything). I guess maybe because it was the evening, so we obviously weren't going to go into MK afterwards. I still found it odd.

The only time I've had them check the ADR list was when we were eating at Chef Mickey's the day after Thanksgiving. We eat at CM every trip and they've never given us a parking permit. The only place that's ever given us one is the Poly.

DVC members have been told that they are not to use valet parking at the resorts to visit the theme parks. Valet parking is only for visiting the resort and using the facilities there.

Wow I must say I find this hard to believe. I can't imagine Disney would want to upset their guests even if they were breaking a rule like parking in the wrong lot. I have seen people reuse mugs and pool hop and no one say boo to them so I am surprised Disney would spent the time and money having guests cars towed.

You are allowed to park for breakfast for sure. When it comes to going to MK well your supposed to go park at TTC then take the monorail or ferry. It would be faster to walk or take the monorail from CR. I don't think your supposed to but you could probally get away with it. So its up to you weather you want to follow the rules or bend then a little.

I thought the free valet parking was only at DVC resorts..and contempory isn't one (yet ;-) ) I guess I gotta look that up maybe this is all a moot point. Thanks for the responses everyone though!

DVC membersonly get free valet at the DVC resort they are staying at. They don't get a hang tag and it's not valid at other resorts.

DVC members get free valet at any resort that's part of the DVC system. You don't need to be staying at the resort for this privilege. You don't need to stay at a Disney owned/run resort for that matter. I've gotten free valet at a DVC resort while staying at the Dolphin. You simply show your Member card. All of the valets are familiar with this.

So they could have been parked there for days before they were towed? No way to know. I can understand towing cars left there for more than 24 hours but otherwise guess I will have to see it to believe it

I parked at the Contemporary last year during President's week. We were given a 3 hour parking permit and told that we must move our car after that time frame. A significant amount of the parking lot was taken over by large trucks (construction?) and it was hard to find a spot. They were definitely checking cars. While I know this may change based on parking availability, you should be prepared to move you car. What some people perceive as scare tactics because they've never experienced it themselves, may or may not be a reality for you. Enjoy your breakfast.

I honestly don't have any idea how long they were there, but I wouldn't want to take the chance. JMHO.
