How do I get to the boardwalk by car and park? Is resort parking and visitor parking at the same spot? Are there signs so we get to the right spot to visit for a couple hours?

When you enter the Boardwalk to the left of their guard shack is a self parking lot that's meant for guests who are going to there just to eat and look around.

If the resort is very busy, you may be asked to park in the overflow lot across the street.

Don't worry because the guard at the gate will tell you where to go.

Thanks everyone! I didn't want to waste time going to the wrong place if I'd get there and have to turn around.

This is great information! Can anyone tell me how much visitor parking is?
Visitor parking requires that you have an ADR on the BoardWalk and the guard will check their list to see if your reservation is on it. Self parking is always free at all WDW resorts.

Thanks for the info! Here's another annoying newbie question for everyone. My husband and I are staying at the Boardwalk Villas, but other family are staying off property. If they come to visit us, where do they park? If they are coming to just pick us up, can they just say that to that guard, and come to the entrance of the hotel? Sorry about all the questions, but just trying to get an idea of where/how much parking is for the fam :)

If they are planning to visit you inside your room and etc then they will park in the self parking lot to the left of the guard shack, which is meant for guests not staying there.

However if they are just planning to pick you up there is nothing wrong with them waiting at the main entrance.

Wait, what if I don't have an ADR? Places like Jellyrolls, Atlantic Dance Hall, and Big River Grill do not have reservations.

Alot depends on the time of year. They are more strict during the Flower & Garden and Food & Wine Festivals, especially weekends. Usually they will direct non-hotel guests over to the overflow across the street unless they valet park.

I agree with Debbie...OP it looks like you're going in October!! While you'll be fine parking there, your guest won't be as lucky esp. if it's the weekend. They are really strict with parking at the BWV during F&W (as it should be). We always stay at BWV during Oct/F&W and have had to show our room key and our parking pass after we passed the guard shack a second time just to get into the resort guest parking lot. It use to be really bad trying to park here at our home resort during F&W until they started doing this, mostly on the weekend (Thur-Sun). I remember before they tightened up with the parking lot my husband would have to drive around the parking lot for 30 minutes just waiting and watching for a parking spot and when you have a ton of groceries to bring in, it's not fun. Often during the weekends, guest are directed to the parking lot across the street behind the Hess station. THis past October there was a huge convention going on and even us guest were not allowed to park in the main parking lot. We had to park in the lot closer to the canal. They kept it locked down and had only one way in and one way out, with a guard at the entrance, so only resort guest could park there. It stayed liked that during our entire 2 week trip. We found out about it because they left a letter in our room telling us we could not park in the main lot. It turned out fine for us, though, and wasn't a huge hassle. But cars would U-turn out all night long because they were being denied entry. I think the convention was a huge IT type convention.
