We are heading for a girls only trip to WDW in October with our girls (11 and 9) and staying at POFQ for 5 days (free dining)then OKW for 5 days (dvc rental) :grouphug:

We want to go to 1900 Park Fayre on our first morning with our princesses princess: princess: for a character breakfast then head to Magic Kingdom.

Can we park at the GF for our breakfast then head on the monorail to MK ? or do we only get free parking at our 'home' resort and the parks ?

You can park at other resorts however you are not suppose to leave your car parked at another resort while visiting the parks.

I would also say the self parking at the GF is a real hike.

Personally I would get the bus to MK then get a boat or monorail to the GF. You can then head to MK without worrying after.

you can park for free at any Disney Resort Hotel, wether you stay at a Disney Hotel or not

the main difference is that if you're not a Disney hotel guest, you should not stay more than 3 hours.
If you're a Disney Hotel guest, then you are ok as long as you display your parking permit on the dashboard.

However, as Elise said, you're not supposed to remained parked there for the day.
Some guests abuse the system to avoid paying for the parking at TTC, but that's irrelevant for you since you get free parking at TTC anyway

If you go early, (for breakfast) just park at TTC and then monorail to GF (second stop) and then to MK
Going early means you'll park pretty close to TTC, with a very short walk after your MK day

Plus, the monorail ride will probably be more magical than just pulling into the GF's parking lot

I would get the bus to MK and then catch the monorail or boat, the self park at the GF is a nightmare, sometimes it's hard to even find a space.

It's the worst thing I found while staying at the GF, I guess they think guests can afford to valet if you can afford to stay there!! :confused3

As above, use the Disney bus to MK then the boat or monorail to the GF. As a few replies note, the self-parking at GF is quite a trek from the hotel itself (we have had experience!!!). Another bonus of using the bus is that for the return journey back from MK, you wouldn't need to catch the boat or monorail back to the Transportation Centre then get the tram to your parking area - the bus will take you directly to the hotel and should be as quick if not faster.

When we stayed at Old Key West last year, we used the bus for our visits to MK to save time parking and transiting from the car park to the park entrance.

Or why not drive to MK (or rather the TTC) then hop on the monorail to GF, then when you're done in MK for the day your car will be parked there.

Oops pressed send before I was finished.

Just wanted to add that's what we done when we had breakfast at GFC and was heading to MK for the rest of the day after and worked perfectly. I preferred that than getting the buses.

I would just valet at GF.

You pay a fee, but it's per day, so you can stay all day for the same price.

if you go to the MK after breakfast, you can then just take the monorail back to the GF at the end of the day and get your car.
Or if the monorail is busy, you can get the GF resort boat from the MK to the GF.
