Getting an off site scooter for the first time...
is parking a scooter like parking a stroller? I know sometimes they have to move the strollers.

I have to use a scooter for the first time ever at the parks and I have no clue what’s acceptable and what’s not? I’d like to walk a little but can’t do the whole day so didn’t know how they treat the scooter situation.

Yes treat it like a stroller - park it when you want to walk for a bit in a stroller parking area and make sure you take your key with you.

My suggestions, practice with it before you get in the crowds. Figure out how fast it stops, or doesn't.
As for parking, park in one of the assigned parking areas and never block entry or passageways, this will cause a CM to move it (if they can). Remove all values, don’t temp fate.

Thank u so much

The hardest park to maneuver will be DL (the walkways in DCA are nice and wide) and most crowded part in DL is probably going to be Fantasyland. The parking area for ECVs there was next to the Red Rose Tavern (at least on our last trip), so nice and centrally located if you want to park and walk around. Otherwise, there's usually stroller areas outside of almost every attraction, so you can park your ECV there as well.

If you're not familiar with driving an ECV, next time you go shopping, borrow one of the store ECVs and give it a try.

Thanks do u know of any other designated parking areas?

I honestly think that's the only one I saw. Fantasyland can get pretty congested and those queues aren't accessible so I think that was just their way of giving people an out-of-the-way place to leave them, if they wanted. I'm not sure when you're visiting, but I'll be back at the end of January and can take a look around for you then, if that's before your trip?

I began using a scooter a few years ago. It didn't take long to figure out driving technique, so you'll do fine.

My one suggestion is - Mark your scooter with a colored ribbon or piece of yarn. I have a bright green one I tie to the handle bar.
With all the Red and Blue scooter, if the CM's move it, it will make it easier to spot in a sea of scooters and strollers.

Seriously don’t worry about “designated parking areas”. They aren’t much of a thing and if your scooter is in the way there are manual releases CM will use to roll it out of the way. If you want to park it just look around and leave it near other scooters or next to a wall/planter/etc where it is off to the side out of a walkway. (Don’t try to use those couple of stroller designated parking areas, you don’t want to have to extricate your scooter from a sea of strollers!)

FYI some attractions will let you take the scooter in with you, CMs will tell you where to put it when you transfer and it will either be there when you return or they will move the scooter to the exit area to meet you when you return. Everything in DCA is scooter accessible, not so much in DL so you will need to use the wheelchair return times. Just take the tickets up to CM outside the attraction and they will issue you a wheelchair return time. Alternatively you can park the scooter and stand in any line obviously. The one I would advise you to definitely get a scooter return time is Indy due to the lengthy entry & exit. They’ll let you take your scooter up to the attraction before you have to transfer.
