Hi everyone! As I set out to write this I find that at this point there is less than two days until the start of the pin meet in fact only about 39 hours. Looks like a good group of people are coming. My best guess puts it around 30+ people coming to the meet. We are really looking forward to it and we will definitely have some fun. This should be a good warm up heading towards the August Pin Event in Epcot. Thought it would be a good idea to recap the details of Parkhopper's Pin Party so everyone knows what to expect.
Parkhopper's Pin Party will take place on Sunday July 22, 2001 (This coming Sunday)
The Pin Party will take place at 15749 Crabbs Branch Way, Rockville, Maryland. Directions to the Pin Party are detailed at my webpage:directions
The Pin Party will officially start at 1:00pm EDT. Organizers of this event will be available at the meet place starting no earlier than 12:30pm for anyone who arrives early. Arriving the night before to get in line is not necessary or recommended for this event. There is no official ending time as we may stay as long as we wish. When everyone has had enough and leaves the meet will officially be over.
Vouchers will be distributed starting at 1:00pm. The Red Vouchers will be distributed first and when we run out of Red Vouchers we will begin distributing the Blue Vouchers. Other than the difference in the print colors the Red Vouchers do not entitle anyone to anything more than the Blue Vouchers do except bragging rights that you were there early enough to get a Red Voucher (this always being a major topic of conversation at WDW pin events). At Parkhopper's Pin Party there are always enough vouchers for everyone (and if there aren't we will make more) so no one will ever miss out. An example of the voucher's from the previous meet can be seen at the following link: vouchers
There will be several planned activities at the pin meet which are totally optional.
Limited Edition Pin Bingo: To play you must exchange a limited edition pin with an edition size of 7500 or less for one Bingo card. Only one Bingo card per person. There will be one game and it will be a Coverall. We will call numbers until someone has covered the entire card. That person will win the Jackpot of all the pins. This Bingo game is scheduled for 2:30pm and participation is totally optional.
Everyone will be entitled to one Mystery Pin Trade. You must present your voucher which will be marked as you participate. I have filled several pages of a large Disneyland Pin Book with pins on the insides of the pages with only the pin backs visible. This is just like the Backwards Supertraders where the pins are on the inside of the vest and only the backs are showing. Everyone who wants to will have an opportunity to pick a pin and trade. There are all kinds of pins in the book from core pins to limited editions to Cast Member pins. You may use any tradeable Disney pin for this Mystery Pin Trade. The pin you trade then goes into the book in place of the pin you get.
There will be an optional Pin Swap. Everyone who wants to participate should bring a wrapped pin. If you forget to bring a wrapped pin you may wrap one at the meet and put it into the swap bag. Again, this must be a fully tradeable Disney pin that you put into the Pin Swap Bag. Later in the meet everyone who has contributed to the Pin Swap will draw a random pin out of the bag.
There will be a Pin Trivia Contest. Contributed by JamesD is a multiple choice trivia contest consisting of 35 pin related questions. Everyone that wants to may participate and there will be prizes awarded.
There will be a General Disney Trivia Contest with all kinds of Disney Questions which will not be multiple choice. You supply the answers. Everyone that wants to may participate and there will be prizes awarded.
Fill out the detachable stub for your voucher and submit it. There will be a drawing for door prizes later during the meet.
In addition to the planned activities we expect a good deal of trading and socializing to be taking place during the course of the meet.
We will supply food and drinks at the meet including but not limited to:
Pita Pocket Sandwich Platters
Veggie Platter
Meatballs
Cheese and Crackers
Chips and Dips
Cookies
Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Mountain Dew, Lemonade, and Water
I think that about covers it. Four out of Five Moderators on the Collectors Board have attended a Parkhopper Pin Party and would recommend it to their friends!
Hope to see a lot of people on Sunday! If there are any additional questions please feel free to e-mail me.
