I know that these two hotels are right next to each other. Both have comparable prices. Which do you prefer and why?

Currently, I have a room booked at the Park Vue (queen with bunk beds). I tried calling the other day and switching to a living room suite but they don't have any for the dates I want (April 22-25). For a few dollars more than what I'm paying for bunk bed room, I can get a parlor a suite at the Desert Inn. Is it worth changing hotels?

My kids are 2 and 4. not sure if we'll go back to the room during the day for a break or not....perhaps on Sunday since the parks are open real late that day. If I'm only going to be there to sleep, just wondering if we really need the additional space or not.

I've read good/bad about each hotel.

All I know is Park Veu is absolutly filthy. It is by far the filthiest hotel I've ever stayed in while visiting Anaheim. They had filthy sheets with all sorts of stains on them, the comforters had stains on them, there were always bugs in the bathtub and bathroom and sink, and 4 of the 5 days we were there the maids never cleaned our room. We made complaints everyday and the staff did nothing to fix it, and refused to give us our money back so that we could change hotels.

I've stayed at the DI 3 times, and will likely do so again. It's only a 10 minute walk from the gates, and I would seriously reconsider your break plan. Walking around DL about 3PM will expose one to the 2 and 4 year olds that didn't get a break, and it's not a pretty sight.

A bientot.

I am sure this will be absolutely no help at all however........

It has been many years (like over 5) but we stayed at the Desert Inn & Suites and it was nasty. The "suite" part was a joke. It was like they took a regular room (strange, icky one at that) and added an alcove to the front (very, very small) with a sofa and TV then the outside door. The inside of the alcove walls were stucco! It was way gross. Maybe they have upgraded since then. :confused3

Hopefully someone else can give you some more current information.

My thoughts ...

We stayed at DI in oct 2006- it was a regular room 4 nights
pros
vanity outside the bathroom
clean
room enough for everyones things
nice front desk help
nice housekeeping
swimming pool inside when cold
breakfast
bill correct
fridge and micro

cons
breakfast not great but included
farther than park vue-but not much
parking can be a problem

We stayed at the park vue dec 2006 6 nights
pros
closest to park
breakfast enough to get full on -with varity
housekeeping fast when needed extra blankets
fridge and micro

cons
really small room.we felt like we were stuffed in a coat closet and someone had to use a shoe horn to pop us out.It was a king with bunk beds and there 5 of us with a cot.Room #114 stay away.
DIRTY floor-kids socks were filthy
vanity inside the bathroom took longer to get ready in the morning
snippy front desk
no room for things-had to stack everything on top of each other
was just not happy there -almost ruined my vacation when I thought we had to go back at night

after everything is said and done ,I would and will be staying at the Desert Inn and Suites in June.

We also stayed at the HoJo's last June.It was nicer but not worth the long walk after a long day at DL.

Good luck deciding. It can be very confusing.

thanks for the responses. I know I'm driving my husband crazy but I'm rethinking the Park Vue Inn......and I don't think I want to stay at the Desert Inn and Suites either.

For me I guess it boils down to the fact that I'm not a "motel" kind of gal. I'm not a snob or anything just not used to staying in a motel type place. My original reservation was for Candy Cane Inn but I had a premium room booked and decided we didn't need the premium room. I may rebook with a deluxe room just because it's a bit bigger and not much more in price ($119).

Another factor is that if we go back to the room (probably Sunday) that the kids might want to swim so I'm thinking the pool has to be better than at the Park Vue. Now, the CCI is just an okay pool from pics but I understand the HoJo is the same distance with a really nice pool. So I have to decide how important the pool really is. I also understand the HoJo is the same distance as the CCI, just w/o the shuttle although I don't know if I'll even use the shuttle but it's a nice thing to fall back on.

So now I think it's really between the HoJo or Candy Cane Inn....if anybody has any opinions on these two places.....or the ones I've mentioned in this thread I'd be interested in what you have to say...perhaps I'll start another thread......

Well I have stayed at the Hojo and the pool is nice. There are actually two. And it has a baby pool which might be a factor depending on the age of your kids. And a kids spray jet area. In fact the whole exterior of the resort is nice with some really lovely grounds. The rooms are also very oversized. Distance wise, the walk is about 10-15 minutes depending on how fast you walk. I would rate the Hojo as a motel but a nice one that has been very cared for in its many years of service. Another good perk about the Hojo is that Mimi's is right next door and they have wonderful food for a nice, cheaper change of pace than the park food.

As for the Candy Cane, I have not stayed there but it does have a shuttle which is nice. And it has an expanded continental breakfast. We are staying there in June because I want to try it out (it gets such incredible reviews) and I need the shuttle for my father in law. I don't think I have ever heard one bad thing about the CCI and it looks so charming. The rooms look very pretty. The Hojo rooms aren't pretty (not ugly, just not as pretty as what the CCI's look like online) But they are bigger I think.

I feel for you, I went back and forth on where we would stay in June for quite awhile. At one point I had three reservations going! Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with either one. They both are motels, but for a Disneyland trip, its unlikely you'll be spending much time there. They both pretty much always get the highest reviews of the onsite or offiste motels,

Oh, and I do have to say, that if you go with the Hojo, make sure you request a room that is not on the freeway side. Those rooms are very noisy. You can get a theme park view room for not much more which will eliminate that problem altogether.

Good luck!

Have not stayed at either, but from reviews I have gathered a couple of insights. Consider that HoJo doesn't have free breakfast nor a dedicated shuttle. But, Hojo does have a water park type place for small kids to play in if that is any use to you. I've heard their pool area is quite nice.
Depends on what is important for you and what it takes to make a suitable vacation for yourself! Good luck!;)

PS I'm in the same dilemma.......decisions, decisions....:confused3

Thanks for the additional input. I know I'm definitely cancelling the Park Vue ressie tomorrow. At this point, I'm leaning toward the HoJo. I think the two most important factors are 1) pool and 2) larger room size. We won't be spending a ton of time in our room, but for the time we are there, I'd like the option to go in the pool and have a little more space to move about. If I book there, I'll definitely request theme park view to avoid traffice noise. Thanks.

I just wish I could make a reservation and be happy and content with it!
