Park Vue Inn Tips

So I’ve been a big supporter of the Park Vue Inn on these boards, and wanted to share my thoughts. We have stayed there 5 times since June. Prior to this trip, based on advice from reviews read on trip advisor, we’ve always booked a two queen room and requested a room towards the back of the motel on the second floor. We’ve always had rooms in the 230s, which are located along the very back section on the second floor, and our rooms have always been nicely updated, large, clean, and quiet. However, we booked a last minute trip this past Tuesday and all they had left were one queen with a bunk bed, and I guess my husband forgot to request the second floor. The bunk bed rooms are closer to the front of the hotel, and definitely louder. Also, I think that first section of rooms (we had room 110) are part of the original motel, because even though they’ve been renovated, they feel very old and they have a smell. They don’t smell bad, I can’t put my finger on it..... maybe just old and humid. The room was very clean, but I feel that these rooms need to be taken to the studs and completely redone. We initially had room 108 and they were nice enough to move us, but 110 had the same minor issues as 108. It’s just that building. Also, the bunk bed rooms are much smaller and more cramped. So is the bathroom.

So my tips are as follows:
Book a two queen room and request a room on the second floor towards the back of the property. These rooms feel “newer” and they’re very quiet. Room 238 and 237 are great!

We still had a good stay, but honestly if this past trip was our first experience at the PVI, I think we’d be more likely to branch out. That being said, we stayed at Hotel Indigo last month, and even though it’s newer and fancier, that walk back is hell compared to the PVI! Their location is just awesome. We will be back with our typical requests!

I am very sensitive to smells and odors...

We have never stayed there and have a reservation for the Two Room/Three Queen Bed Suite option on our next trip.

Have you ever stayed in one of these room? Wondering if the smell issue you describe is a problem for these rooms.
PVI only has TWO of these room types and changing rooms might not be possible. One on the ground floor and one on the second floor.

Wondering if I should look for another place to stay????

We always stay in the bunk bed rooms (which are all in that front section of the property, on both floors) and have never had an issue with smells. 🤷🏼‍♀️ The bunk bed rooms are definitely small, but with two kids the bunk bed by far outweighs the size of the room, my kids do not share a bed well! It’s still been plenty big for the three of us.

There is of course some noise as in any hotel, but I haven’t noticed anything excessive. Then we tend to come back late from the parks and get up early again the next morning so we may be the ones making the noise...

We are actually staying in one of these suites for our stay beginning January 25. When are you going? I just emailed the PVI inquiring about where this suite is located and requesting the second floor option.

The smell wasn’t stinky.... the best way I can describe it is old and artificial. There was also a humidity issue. I personally think these particular rooms are really old and poorly ventilated, and I’m guessing housekeeping sprays something to try and keep them fresh smelling. Perhaps that’s what we were smelling. I noticed it, my husband noticed it, and even my eight year old noticed it. However, the two queen rooms do not smell like this, and we’ve stayed in four different rooms. Therefore, I just can’t recommend the bunk bed rooms.

People (not you!) just don’t realize how loud they are returning from the parks at night.... it’s so inconsiderate. I could hear full on conversations last night. We are usually back before ten and even then I tell my kids to be quiet. We try and be as quiet as we can in the mornings, as we are rope droppers, but I’m sure we’ve disturbed other guests. Fortunately Disneyland isn’t a place I go to relax and sleep, and we’ve stayed in much louder hotels. I was simply making a recommendation that the rooms further back are very quiet!

We go in March. I called to see how many rooms like this they had and was told two, one on the second floor and one on the ground level. Not having ever been there I didn't understand the location he tried to describe to me.

Aurora0427 please let me know which one you get and what your opinion is.
I will also be taking a solo overnight trip on Jan 28th but staying at the Tropicana Inn. I've always been happy with the Tropicana. For March I booked PVI 2R/3Q because I have a couple of grandkids along with me.

Thanks
Geemo

Ok, I will report back once they tell me where the suites are located, and I’ll definitely fill you in after our stay. We love the PVI, I posted simply to try and give my advice for the best possible stay. I don’t want to dissuade anyone from staying there!

I understood what you meant about the smell, my point is that I have not noticed that, at all, in our many stays there. I’m providing a different opinion should someone else actually need a bunk bed room. If you can just as easily stay in a 2 queen, then that’s a great solution for you.

Thanks for the tips Aurora! We’ve never stayed in the front because all the double queen rooms start half way back. We do request as close to front as possible and with those rooms they start at about the pool, which works well for us. We stayed in the very back and must have had bad luck because all our neighbors were extra noisy.

The suites are located at the back of the property closest to the pool on the end. We stayed in one that was above the laundry room. Being closest to the stairs got pretty noisy and if I remember correctly it was near the housekeeping room too. PVI definitely isn’t the quietest of places but I don’t think any of the motels on Harbor are. Lots of little kids coming and going.

Thanks for the info about the location.... doesn’t sound like our suite is going to be quiet. Being near the housekeeping room is the pits! I’m going to bring ear plus for the adults.... my kids sleep like the dead so not worried about them. We’ll be up early anyway for rope drop.

Good idea about the earplugs. It mostly depends on your neighbors. We’ve stayed there many times and once someone next door was snoring so loudly he sounded like he was in our room. Walls are pretty thin. But if you’re rope dropping, it may not affect you as much. Most of the noise is little kids running by the room early in the morning.
