Has anyone stayed at the Park Vue Inn recently that can give me some details about the evening social hour, particularly what types of food are served? I know it's not a full dinner, and I'm assuming it's not as extensive as the breakfast buffet, but I'm wondering if it's like cheese and crackers, finger food type things or if there are some more substantial offerings.

Basically I'm wondering how comparable it is to the concierge lounge at Paradise Pier. When we were there in 2007, one night it was mini sliders burgers and I think even fries, one night was some kind of little enchilada rolled up things, one night was like a swedish meatball thing, along with crackers, cheese, veggies, fruit, cookies, etc. Because we are not big eaters in the morning and were more interested in touring the parks in the evening, we would eat the light breakfast in the lounge then get a bigger meal in the parks in the middle of the day and then come back for the light evening meal in the lounge, then maybe buy a treat in the parks later. We ended up spending far less on food that trip than we planned.:thumbsup2

I am hoping that the Park Vue is similar. I am not even sure this trip is going to be happening, kind of in the maybe phase right now....but it's been my fantasy to celebrate my 40th at the Happiest Place on Earth! I like the location of the Park Vue and it's rated #3 on TripAdvisor for Anaheim area hotels, no doubt in large part for the location. If the food situation is similar to what we had before at the Paradise Pier concierge, then that will push me a little closer to booking!

WoW! I too want to spend my 40th at Disneyland! :yay: DH told me to plan away for it BUT I am not to plan a trip in the meantime - which is still a few years away:sad2: But I hope you make it there and :bday:
We stayed at the PVI a couple of weeks ago and was able to make it to the social hour twice. Although it was in my plans to go most nights we were there, I found out at Disney, you can only plan so much then you must just go with the flow!:rolleyes1 The one night we ate there it was : hot dogs, green garden salad (the bagged type) pasta salad, ranch dressing, balsamic dressing, fresh veggies (carrots and broccoli), 2 types of soup ( chicken noodle and minestrone), juice and water. The next night was the same type of salads and soup and soft and hard tacos with all the trimmings. We found the food to be good. We don't complain much when the food is free - well, if it was disgusting that would be different but we found it to be decent and would have enjoyed it on more evenings but it just didn't work out that way. It totally filled up my kids and I. Dh found it to be a light meal for him - he is a hefty eater! I would stay at the PVI again for all of its pluses including this one!:)

We stayed at the Park Vue July 18th - July 25th. They had something different each night of the week, plus soups and salads. When we were there they served:
Mac & cheese + chicken nuggets
Enchiladas
Mini chicken burgers
Nachos
Tacos
(just one per night, not all options every night)

I would guess that it's not the variety or quality that you would get at the Paradise Pier, but it's not bad.

Thanks so much for the responses! This is what I was hoping to hear, that there was some entree type offering each evening. My 40th isn't until Feb 2012, but if we're going to do it, the time to start planning is now! Now, any good ways to get a great rate? I read somewhere that if you 'like' them on Facebook, they send out special rate codes, but I did that a few months ago and so far, nothing, just some updates about new carpet, no special discounts. I think the rate I got off of their website for Feb 22-26 was $136 a night. I know I can do cheaper, but PVI has great reviews, #3 on TripAdvisor's site, and I love the location. The possibility of reduced food costs, if this trip tends to be like last trip to DL, where we basically ate one meal in the parks and then ate breakfast and dinner in the lounge, and then enjoyed DL snacks to fill in the rest, is just a bonus.
