Two questions...
1. Has anyone been to WDW Orlando the last week in August- over Labor Day? We are going Tuesday to Tuesday (9/2). How are the lines during that time?

We selected it because our kids in New Jersey don't start back school until the week after Labor Day, when most kids in the country I've heard start back mid-August.

Any advice?

2. We are PURPOSELY selecting our park visit days that are NOT the early entrance days for that theme park. We thought we'd plan away from the crowds that are directed to that particular park. We plan to be at those parks 1/2 hour before they post as open. Is this a good strategy?

Great Disney memories to all of you!
Thanks,

Hi Mehudicka . Welcome to the DIS. I'm really glad you found us. I hope you enjoy planning your trip here and can visit us often.

I've never been to WDW during that time frame so I can't answer your question, sorry.

I usually visit parks that aren't having early entry, I think it's a great strategy :)

We usually go to WDW on Labor Day and stay the week after. We went to MGM on Labor Day one time it was a bit crowded and choose not to go to the parks on Labor Day but til the day after when crowds dropped alot. It was still managable that was about 3 years ago. It was a little frustrating but not real bad getting around and on rides . If I can remember right, I think we waited around 30 minutes to get on rides.

We went Labour Day weekend through the following week in 2002 and are doing the same thing this year. We were at MK on Sunday before Labour Day and it wasn't bad - we walked on to everything but Splash Mountain. Oh, we did get a fastpass for Haunted Mansion, but the standby line for that was only 20 minutes or so. It was a little more crowded that night as it was one of the few times Spectromagic was scheduled, but still not terrible. We found a good parade spot about 45 mins before. On Labour Day itself we were at Epcot and you would have never known it was a holiday at all. We did Test Track twice - just walked through the queue. We even got a table at Cantina de San Angel for Illuminations by just walking in. The rest of the week? Pretty much the same thing. The longest thing we waited for was Primeval Whirl at DAK - 20 minutes.

Just love reading these posts about crowds dropping day after Labor Day! That's our arrival date.

Now if they would just schedule an E night for 9/2 I'd be in heaven....
