Hi! I was wondering if anyone has rope dropped a park, gone in early for naps, then back to the park for mvmcp. I feel like it's being over ambitious since we have little kids but I love how empty mk is the morning of the party! :)

I don't dare do this since I have a 4 year old but we are doing MK on a different party day just in the morning-early afternoon!

We always do that, but not with little kids. If your kids will nap, it sounds like a great plan. But mine never would nap on vacation so it would have been risky when they were little.

I wouldn't risk it unless you know for sure your kids will nap. How little is little? Even a nap won't help keep toddlers up late.

This was our exact plan last December with DD7 and DD4. It worked out perfectly! But the key is definitely knowing that the kids will nap. On our day we rode SDMT several times around 9:30 with 10-15 minute waits each time. Rope drop on party days has been great for us.

Oh good to know! What time did you head back to the room?

Wouldn't work for our family.... no guarantee the kids would nap, and then they would be rough for the party. Our MVMCP plan is usually a late morning character breakfast at a resort. We do try to nap in the afternoon still, but if they don't nap, at least they had a low key morning anyway.

We went back around noon. Stayed at POR and with Disney's room darkening shades we could almost pretend it was dark outside. In fact we all slept for a couple hours. Got dressed and ready, grabbed a bite at the food court and were back on the bus to MK by 4:30ish. We stayed at the party until about 11:30.

You may be my hero! Definitely something to think about! Thanks!

I have found MVMCP nap doesn't work for my kids. At 6 and 4, they were miserable (and this was with a full no-park day prior to the party). At 7 and 5, the 5 year old slept through almost the whole party in a stroller and the 7 year old did well until 10 when he crashed hard. Getting kids out of a double stroller onto the bus is fun when they are both dead asleep LOL. The point to your question, though - my kids stopped napping when they were 3 so that was not an option for us for any of these parties. They just wouldn't do it, room darkening shades or not! So, we tough it out but it isn't always pleasant :-).

Ug that is rough! I'm so grateful for nappers!! I guess my biggest take away is it depends on the kid! Thanks for your feedback!

You know your child better than anyone else! If you have a good napper, go for it! We did this when my daughter was 2yrs 8mos and it worked great! Now she's 5 and I miss the days when she would nap and we could go back to the parks til late...

Thank you for this thread! I was debating this same scenario with my 3yo. She is horrible at taking naps and I know she would not be able to handle mvmcp. Still, I don't know when the next time will be that we will make it to wdw during the holidays, so I was still considering it. This conversation has helped put that to rest for good. Being in the parks during Christmas time will be amazing either way!

That's great to know! Thank you!
