First timer for DL. Do guests generally make reserevations for DL then hop to DCA. Does it really matter where you go first.

It matters if you're interested in getting more done at Disneyland in the morning. The crowds and lines will be much better before 10:00.

I usually make reservations for both parks over the course of a 5 day trip. I like to rope drop Disneyland 3-4 times and DCA once or twice.

We bought Genie+ on our last visit and have done the same thing this time round for our trip the 1st week of December 24. Coming from Australia we stay for a week so have plenty of park days up our sleeve. At the start of our trip we dedicate our first day to DL and then our second day to DCA (we buy a 2 day ticket with no park hopper for those days). We then purchase a 5 day park hopper ticket for the remaining days. More often we find ourselves rope dropping DL, having a long afternoon break back at our hotel during which time we stack G+ reservations for DCA which we then use during our return to that park in the evening. We also usually do the reverse of this at least once so we can experience the rides in DL at night. Also for us there are not as many rides in DCA that we enjoy (we hate Guardians and don't do inversions so Incredicoaster is out). We find that other than our first full day at DCA we only want to spend a few hours there hitting Toy Story, Goofys Sky School, Soarin, Little Mermaid, Webslingers, Carsland and always always Art of Animation thats why a PM park hop here works well for us as we can knock these rides out with G+ in a relatively short time.

If you are not staying on property and have park hopper passes, is it smart to make park reservations and start at the park that doesn't have early entry for DLR guests?
